I see BBC2 are showing the James Bond movie From Russia With Love on Sunday night with Sean Connery. Is this the first time the BBC are showing a classic Bond Movie? If so what the hell are ITV going to do at Christmas? Laughing

Probably some sort of deal as part of BBC2's British Film Season.

But I;m more Surprised that there are NOT showing

My Beautiful Laundrette 1985

Goldfinger is in cinemas, not on TV.

Re My Beautiful Laundrette - I guess that is a Filmfour production, so even less likely than a Bond film to turn up on the BBC.

There is a huge debate about this going on over on Digital Spy. One member is convinced that he/she saw Diamonds Are Forever on BBC1 on a bank holiday Monday, despite other members offering evidence that a James Bond film (other than Never Say Never Again and the original Casino Royale) has never been shown by the BBC before.

This has really surprised me. How come BBC are showing Bond I thought ITV had all the titles locked down. The only other time I remember them being shown on a channel other than ITV was Sky Movies years ago.

I remember one of the Dalton-era Bond's definately got shown on BBC1 on a Bank Holiday sometime in the mid 1990's.

ITV really don't show them that often anymore, there was a point a few years ago when they said they were showing every Bond, but that didn't last long!

Yes it will be a rare treat to watch a Bond film on BBC2 with no adverts.
I think BBC1 once shown The Living Daylights once a few years ago and the unofficial Bond films 'Never Say Never Again' and the original version of 'Casino Royale'.
