Before ITV started all this Quizmanina and The Mint melarky, their nighttime programming regularly had ITN news bulletins through the night, which I am guessing was part of their PSB brief. However, since ITV have started this quiz nonsense they have dropped the news summaries. Should someone have a word in OFCOM's ear? Maybe we can get Entertainment Now back?
For a long time there have been two news summaries a night. In general these are still there - the only time one get dropped is if The Mint/QM goes straight through to 0500, in which case ITN doesn't like to have a summary so close to the Morning News. However this is happening less and less now the signed programming is being evenly distributed throughout the week at the end of the night rather than all on Sunday/Monday.
But whenvever I watched ITV Nighttime, there seemed to be news aftrer every program.
You obviously didn't watch much of it then because in general there was only ever one or two summaries a night before the Morning News.
Exactly. I ask the original poster what the point in having a summary after every programme would be anyway, especially since there's going to be a very small audience at those times..
I was thinking this morning it makes no sense really that ITV (and the BBC in some respects) have summaries during the morning and overnight - but have nothing during primetime.
The only summary they had in primetime was when News at Ten was axed and they did a brief 1 minute summary at 10pm before the Nightly News at 11pm - but this was soon quietly dropped.
Another thing that annoys me on ITV is that the regional weather bulletins seem to continue regardless of whether there is regional news. There is always an additional regional forecast at weekends after the 11pm news - and the mid-afternoon weather report has continued despite the news summary being axed.

I may have been exagerating by saying after every program, but there did seem to be a lot of news summaries when I watched Nighttime years ago. Memory must be going.

Well if they had a late night regional bulletin at weekends it would mean the regional news teams having to work extra hours. A 30 second weather report is recorded earlier in the day so its not too much trouble to do it.
The last time I saw anything on ITV at night, it was good old nightscreen, heart design time though, so it sucked with crappy transitions, whats it like now?
