As we all know, a lot of ITV's programmes are shown with generic credits, but what will happen with the credits when these programmes get shown on satellite channels eg UK GOLD, Granada Plus in the future, will we see full screen programme credits?

Nope - you'll probably see the generic credits. But without left-hand promos, obviously.

I can't stand them myself. The principle is there, but the design is rather disgusting to me.

No, we will see the full screen credits. The programmes are made with fulls creen credits for imports etc.. Crossroads on ITV2 use proper credits rather than the ITV1 sidebar.

ECP's are really annoying me aswell. The design is awful, but what really annoys me is the use of them on Cold Feetm it really ruins the end of the show, damn you ITV.

Both the BBC & ITV are anxious these day to promote the program being showed next. It was fine with just an announcer mentioning it on the credits and reducing the volume but I hate having end credits squashed in one side and program promotions on the other side at the same time. Does everything on ITV have to be generic these days, the program credit design is the same on every program with a certain colour in the background.
The BBC are no where near as bad, but at the end of Eastenders they always show a program promotion!

I don't know - I suppose programme promos during credits are inevitable. The BBC and Channel 4 I like - both are simple, both superimposed over credits, and I don't think many viewers really mind it to be honest. ITV I believe have taken the wrong approach. Maybe placing the credits in a certain area like Channel 4, but not with that stupid swirly thing in the background. I just hate it hate it hate it.

We were in the USA recently and we think that the BBC and ITV gor the idea from the states because we watched this comedy on ABC and believe their look is worse it's white and got lines etc which look horrible though show the final thing on the right.

So believe me ours are not that bad

The ITV 'twisty' as it's called, had to be granted special permission from the ITC.

I remember The Grauniad doing a piece about it, and when it was first muted, there was some concern in 200 Grays Inn Road, that it could take ITV over the regulated amount of time for promotions.

Now they've increased the size of the lettering on the Coronation Street credits, I don't think the Generic credits are that bad.

The ECP promos are bad though, especially as they are usually just a cobbled together standard promo, The same one with the same clips you've seen 50 times already during the past week.

To see the generic credits working well without ECP's, see 'Night and Day', 'The Biggest Game in Town', 'The People Versus' etc.

theyre creeping onto regional telly now - i spotted them on the new series of 30 minutes on central

Yes, Border have them on their local news programme.

It is ITV centre's wish for all regions to use them. I know for a fact that Tyne Tees is resisting, as it'll cock up their own branding. They'll probably relent, though Sad
