Jez, where did you buy the Crossroads DVD from?
BR

Just out of interest, how does the top 50 break down regionally (i.e. how many made by LWT, Granada etc).

I believe it's available anywhere isn't it? Released by Network? I know somebody who was planning a similar home brew Crossroads DVD, but I don't know if he managed to persuade Network to do it as a proper release, or they came to do it on their own accord.

ITV will be marking this historic year with a variety of special programming and live events to entertain and involve viewers across the country.

The first of the celebratory programmes starts in June with Melvyn Bragg’s documentary The Story of ITV: The People’s Channel. The focus of the on-air celebrations will then be concentrated around the anniversary itself in mid-September and will include:

49 Up
In 1964 World In Action made 7 Up - a special programme about the lives of a group of seven-year-olds and their expectations for the future. Following the success of 7 Up, producers decided to revisit the children every seven years. Now, as ITV celebrates its 50th anniversary, ITV1 catches up with the group as they approach their half-century mark, in 49 Up.

The Story Of ITV: The People’s Channel
This five-part series, written and presented by Melvyn Bragg, looks at the network’s 50-year history and talks to many of the players, celebrities and key executives who helped shape Britain’s most popular commercial channel.

Avenue Of The Stars
British stars past and present are to be honoured in a new walkway along the River Thames in a permanent tribute celebrating their contributions to the entertainment world.

ITV’s 50 Greatest Shows

A three-hour celebration of ITV’s finest programmes from Sunday Night at the London Palladium to the phenomenal success of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! The programme will offer a definitive countdown of the 50 greatest shows in the 50-year history of the channel, as voted for by ITV viewers.

Best Ever Ads
From the Smash Martians to the Gold Blend couple, from the PG Tips chimps to the Milk Tray man, this special, hour-long show tells the stories behind the ITV ads that are just as entertaining as the shows they popped up in.

What Did ITV Do for Me?
This programme will feature some of the biggest names in television as they recall the way in which one pivotal moment, one role, one appearance on ITV, changed their life and career immeasurably!

ITV’s contribution over the past 50 years is also recognised this year by a number of other organisations including Royal Mail which will be issuing a set of commemorative stamps on 15 September depicting six iconic ITV shows.

The Royal Television Society will be holding an ITV 50 tribute dinner in June and the British Film Institute has announced a programme of nationwide screenings, culminating in an ITV season at the National Film Theatre, in London, in November 2005.

And, in a very exciting partnership with the Big Lottery Fund, ITV is to embark on a new initiative to distribute Lottery funding to projects benefiting local communities, through ITV Regional and Network News and Programming.

It was also announced last month that ITV is to receive theInternational Emmy Directorate Award at the prestigious awards ceremony in New York this November.

ITV’s celebrations will culminate with a gala dinner at London’s Guildhall, in October, which will be attended by the HRH Queen Elizabeth II. The same event was featured in the first transmission by ITV on 22 September 1955.

I ordered it online. It was no where to be found in the shops, apparently it sold out fast.
