ITV50 Question

I know there are several other trheads but I realised it may be ignored.

ITV launched on 22nd September 1955. Yes, the 22nd. How come that on the 22nd there are no main programmes/events seeing as that day marks EXACTLY 50 years of ITV?

Well we have a LIVE episode of the Bill and a 1 hour special of Emmerdale which sees the departure of a long term character.

Oh well that's.... good.... isn't it... Oh bloody hell, ITV! Can't you do any worse?

There's also 49UP and old faces on the ITV Evening News.

49Up? Fair enough. Does that mean that the news will me mentioning it all as well?

ANOTHER ITV50 QUESTION

On my Sky+ box it says Series Link for 50 Years of World Of Sport, but looking at this TV guide, 50 Years of World Of Sport is nowhere to be seen.

Will this actually be extended or is it just an error of some sort?

That was a one-off from last Tuesday wasn't it?

Also, 50 Years of Rock and Roll is on Wednesday night according to a TV mag, but it's not in my Sky+ guide. All it says is "Carling Cup Highlights". Who's fault is it?

Another ITV50 question - when do the idents finish?

I'm wondering if that when the ITV50 idents end the new look ITV idents will begin?

It was on last Tuesday in two parts first at 9.45 and the second at 11.00 after the news.

To maintain the sense of history something drastic has to happen in the Archers. On the eve of Channel 4's opening ISTR a conversation between Shula and David (or was it Shula and Nigel) looking at the empty plot where the barn had been, and mentioning that something drastic had happened there. There was also something elso going on that could have led to a fire!

Does anyone know how the Archers celebrated the opening of BBC2, presumably not with a power cut?
