You didn't even read what he was trying to say - prat! Rolling Eyes I'm sick and tired of the abuse on here.

The ITV 50 Album is great had some fun with it on air this week. I've got another 10 copies on my desk at work - the powers that be are doing anything and everything to promote the birthday so I reckon quite a few local stations will be giving away these albums over the next few weeks.

Indeed, I notice that ITV plc are doing a (surprisingly) good job of pretending that ITV is nationally 50 years old, when in fact it's merely 50 years old in a small part of London, and no present franchisee has been broadcasting for 50 years (although Granada is very close).

I did laugh when Westcountry News did their own '50 years' feature - did people really forget that only 4 years ago they did a 4 part series on 40 years of ITV? More recently, it was only last year that Anglia did a feature on 45 years of broadcasting. Has no one there noticed that 5 years have not passed since that feature went out?

I'm quite amazed - particularly on here, that no one is questioning the laughable 'national birthday' image that they've created in recent weeks.

So when Five are 10 years old in 2007 are you saying they can't celebrate it because not everybody could receive it at the start?

Or if a shop does a sale because they are 100 years old, they can only hold it in the actual branch that has been open from the start?

You are just being negative because its a network thing rather than a regional thing

Anglia have pointed out quite a few times on the ITV 50 reports on Anglia Tonight that Anglia is 46 and that they are celebrating their contribution to 50 years of ITV.

top be fair it is "ITV 50" and not "Anglia 50 / Tyne Tees 50..." which would probably go some way to explaining the lack of regional idents being broadcast.

I think those that seem to think that ITV50 should only be celebrated in the London region should read Andrew's post.

- by the way, I liked Denis Norden's dig at ITV plc: This month also celebrates ITV's 15,000 cock-up. What makes that figure even more interesting is that they only started counting last February Laughing
