Because the shortlist was pulled together by ITV controllers and voted on by the GBP.

It was a nicely put together programme, but it was obvious that Coronation Street would be No. 1, but why Footballer's Wives got higher up in the list than Minder, I'll never know.

Roger Shaw will present a series of special features this week on Westcountry Live. Great to see Roger back, but I think we know who the first choice would have been.
No-one has mentioned CITV - surely they can't be excluded from the ITV50 festivities? Ten years ago there was a week of Gogglevision plus clips aplenty for CITV's 40th.

Also, interesting to note that Channel TV will be taking Meridian's programme at this time!

As with everything else they will have their regional show next Sunday where according to the schedules it will look back on shows like TISWAS, Crossroads and Spitting Image.
Also they will continue with their ITV50 news reports in the week.
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't Central have to borrow Mr B's Tiswas VHS, last time the show got mentioned, because they couldn't get quick access to the existing master tapes(Leeds?)?
Wonder what they've managed to scrape together this time?
Anyone still got the Bob Holness one from nearly 10 years ago?
(The original version transmitted, not the edit that took the regional news out of the later repeat!)

I agree, there is no way Ant and Dec's takeaway is the 2nd best series in ITV's 50 year history.
Corrie coming first was always likely, and at least its been around for the majority of ITV's 50 years and been a very popular series since it started.

Notice it was made by Yorkshire Television who seem to specialise in making archive programmes. It looked like it was filmed at The London Studios though.

HI everyone - can any of you remember the albums they advertised during the closing credits? I've managed to find the ITV 50 album listed on Amazon, but I'm sure they mentioned another album as well.
Thanks in advance.
