Agree with what's been said about Ulster/Scotland missing out - though UTV has mentioned "ITV" where it couldn't avoid it - and the old Ulster Television logo got a good outing during that "Avenue of the Stars" thing yesterday evening (though hardly deservingly).
Putting it in programme names meant they had to mention it, though they'd be hasty to add "on UTV". UTV are not using the idents, nor the trailers (I believe SMG are using the trailers but not the idents).
UTV did absolutely nothing for their fortieth birthday a couple of years ago. Not so much as a mention. They seem to regard 4/6/1993 as a kind of Year Zero from their point of view. Whether they will do something for their fiftieth probably depends on who their shareholders are come 2009.

Yeah, they recently added the ITV50 logo to them aswell. For some reason, when they launched it was clean without any logos just the fireworks. I notice they've been showing a few ITV1 promos with the English announcers recently. Still the four blue squares though.

I don't know why there has to be this silly business where 'they had to mention it'. They should be mentioning it.
Basically I bet what happened is that UTV obviously wouldn't be happy to use the basic 'ITV50' idents, and they couldn't just cover up the ITV logo as they normally do as that would have read UTV50 They could have created some special 'ITV50 on UTV' idents and trailers, but that would have needed effort.
If they'd have actually been against the idea they could have opted out of all the network programme to show repeats of School Around the Corner and year old episodes of TV Burp!
