Hmmm...today's Sun also has an interview with them! It talked about the fact they'll be doing Catchphrase (which I don't think has been mentioned) and Bullseye - complete with all Jim Bowen's phrases and 'dog-eared tenners'!

This week's show is a nostalgia trip looking back at the shows etc.. They also printed tiny pics from the title sequence which include Ant and Dec nicking bits off the sets - including the Bullseye dartboard!

Going slightly OT- (i didn't think it was worthy of a new thread)- In an interview with the "Mirror" to promote the game show marathon it has been revealed there will be a Christmas special of "Ant & Dec;s Saturday Night Takeaway" this year. The lads also hinted it will be the final time we see little A&D.

Fantastic - how many of us suggested a Christmas special last year!

Re: Ant & Dec in the ITV Top 50 - I think they are far more deserving of their place than Ricky Gervais is of his place in the "Avenue of Stars" thing!

As for this game show marathon - a bit worrying is that the shows are 60 minutes long, so could plod along quite slowly as most the original shows were 30 minutes long! I expect alot of padding - perhaps with classic clips!

My biggest worry is the involvement of celebrities. I'm hoping that they're of a decent standard ('Heat' mentions Martin Freeman - Tim from 'The Office' - is involved - which is not bad. But seen as the first show is 'The Price is Right' and they've got to fill an audience I'm not getting my hopes up.

Other then that though I'm really looking forward to it. I'd much rather see this then another below-par series of ITV's 2nd greatest show ever -unbelievable!! Rolling Eyes - 'Takeaway' limp on for 7 weeks.

Did anyone catch the World Of Sport special last night? I have to say despite the News interruption it was worth watching, there was aload of good clips from the World Of Sport era, many cock ups, details about Eric Morcambe on the Christmas Eve 1977 WoS, the ITV7, On The Ball/Saint & Greavsie. With alot of contribution from Dickie Davies, Fred Dineage et al.

You couldn't beat the clips of motorbikes on ice and the UK's answer to Evel Kenevil. Laughing

Ant and Dec's Gameshow Marathon is supposed to be The Price is Right this week and Take Your Pick next week.

Will they be doing Win Lose or Draw?

No, only The Price Is Right, Take Your Pick, Bullseye, 3-2-1, Sale Of The Century, Family Fortunes and Play Your Cards Right

They have brought Win Lose or Draw back as Win Lose or Draw Late, but that never did that well, and was nothing compared to the original. These revivals are of the most popular and the most remembered ITV gameshows.

...and how are ITV celebrating 50 years?

...by filming their gameshow marathon at BBC's TV Centre!

Though surprising, Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway is easily the best Saturday night show on ITV in recent years - and when it airs it usually gets universal praise around here. I certainly think Takeaway is more deserving of number two than I'm a Celeb at number six!

It is a good show, but it is basically a cross between Noels House Party and Don't Forget your Toothbrush, which are possibly the 2 best Saturday night programmes ever

SUNDAY 18 SEPTEMBER

You are Watching Tyne Tees...
5:30pm - 6:30pm : Tyne Tees TV.

As part of ITV's 50th birthday celebrations, Mike Neville, Ant and Dec, Tim Healy, Brendan Foster, Pam Royle and Denise Robertson look back at half a century of TV production in the North East. Landmark shows such as Supergran, Razzmatazz, The One O'Clock Show, Face the Press and Catherine Cookson dramas are remembered and celebrated along with newer shows like Distant Shores and The Dales Diary.

I get the feeling the only reason they've named their programme like that is so the announcer can say..

"Now as part of ITV 50 we take a look through the archives at almost half a century of tv production in the region. You're watching Tyne Tees"

And of course that will doubtless be defeated when ITV decide to put out a generic anno along the lines of "and now we celebrate 50 years of ITV where you are" or somesuch.

Interesting use of the phrase though, as TTTV haven't had announcements like that in almost a decade. With a programme name like that it'll be a crime if they don't interview at least one IVC anno along the way. I've noticed that since Tyne Tees's annos were ditched their existence has been airbrushed from the station's history; where in the past they'd have a clip of Adrian Cairns's first night intro that is no longer shown at all in archive programmes, even though most of the rest of the footage is rolled out time and time again.
