Hopefully someone can help out here. In the front bedroom, my dad has a freeview box connected to his TV. He discovered earlier tonight, he couldn't get ITV4 on it, channel 24. So I done a channel search, no luck. I tried a total wiping of the box and first time installation, no luck again.

The box is a couple of years old. It's served off a separate aerial, in the loft. The aerial points to the Craigkelly transmitter.

So, any ideas folks why he can't get ITV4?

Is Craigkelly a main or a relay transmitter?

ISTR the last lot of retuning involved 'losing' ITV3 & ITV 4 from relays! (Something to do with putting Five on a PSB mux?)

I could be wrong though.

Can you get ITV 3?

Craigkelly is a main transmitter.
I suggest doing to the Digital Spy Forums and voicing your problem their, where you may get an answer.

Can he get Viva (Ch. 21) or Film 4 (Ch. 15)? If not, he's missing a whole multiplex for some reason (possibly because there isn't a strong enough signal to 'catch' it). If he can get those and not ITV4, there is something screwed with his STB - I'd recommend doing a complete factory reset (look in the manual or google).

Craigkelly is a main transmitter. We can see it driving a mile up the road from us! He can't get Viva, or Film four either. So it seems, according to you, he's missing a multiplex.

Are you able to use a signal booster of some description?

ITV 3 and 4 are only carried on the commercial muxes, not the PSBs, therefore only available from main transmitters, and just 30 major relays.

The mux that ITV 4 is carried on is Arqiva B. From Craigkelly that's on UHF Ch 39. It's likely the loft aerial is a Group A, that would have been installed before Freeview, and therefore will only respond properly to UHF Chs 21-34, where the four analogues and the three PSB muxes reside. You may need to change it to a Wideband. Even after DSO next year Craigkelly will continue to broadcast the COM muxes 'out of band', although they will be at greater power than now.
