Hi - not sure if anybody noticed this earlier and posted it already, but just saw this caption on ITV3+1.

Apologies for the lousy picture, but does anybody else know anything more about this?

It's allegedly because they didn't buy the rights for enough plays to show certain programmes on the +1 service.

Some of ITV3's programming arrangements look like they stem from the old Granada Plus service, which at the time wouldn't have been cleared for a repeat straight afterwards as there was no such thing as "Granada Plus + 1" and therefore no timeshift rights to carry over to ITV3.

Therefore it's considered not very efficient to buy new broadcast rights for existing material just so it can be shown on a timeshifted channel with a (usually) lower audience. More effective just to run with the current arrangement and negotiate new rights to cover the timeshift channels as and when. Therefore in time this caption should be seen less and less.

Surely they should've waited until the rights issues were sorted out?

Does ITV 2 + 1 have the same issues?

havent seen any problems with itv2+1, but most of itv2's shows are produced by itv, eg, xtra factor, coronation street, emmeradale. wereas itv3's schedule is mostly made up of drama imports.

The X Factor/Xtra Factor is produced by talkbackTHAMES, not ITV.
And, alot of ITV3's schedule is made up of ITV Productions (Granada).

The ITV3 programmes that seem to get this treatment include a lot of the stuff they've bought in from the BBC
