Is ITV3 the way forward?

Just look at yesterdays schedule for ITV3, now given the multiple playings of the same programme, this was the offering.

Forever Green
Never the Twain
A Bit of a Do
Rising Damp
Carry on Crusing
The Magnificant Seven
The Color of Money

The result of the above, was that ITV3 was being watched by various people in this house yesterday, most of the day. Demographics, we're all in our 30's and interestingly, not one of us can remember liking A bit of a Do from the first time round, but now it hits a hidden chord.

Given the terminal papp on ITV1- and soaps repeat channel that is ITV2, is ITV3 showing the best variety of programmes on the new ITV channels, because in my case and my mates it certainly is.

I have to admit that I have been pleasantly surprised by the way they have developed ITV3. I particularly like the feature length dramas they ocassionaly show which these days seem to be remarkably absent from ITV1.

I think ITV3 is the way forward along with BBC4

if telly was more like those two channel this might be better

I like itv4,
I don't mind BBC3 it’s only worthwhile once a week!

I think there to much TV channels! Out there!

Why does the BBC/ITV think the majority of people watching there channel don’t have brain cell inside them. More high class telly that what we need,

Yep ITV3 is actually a good channel in many ways.

I'd never even heard of "A Bit of a Do" but i watched it yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Especially considering all the people in it i recognised.

It's a pity BBC FOUR only starts at 7pm!

Well once the switchover occours, I would be pretty stupid to timeshare channels, because we know not all of the current channels are going to survive, so hopefuully BBC4 will be 24/7. I like ITV when I can see it, but when I could they had the tour de france on Rolling Eyes .

Why? So they can repeat programmes several times instead of just once a night?

I swear I saw a Jasper Carrott programme listed on ITV3 a few weeks ago.

Personally I am begining to watch ITV3 more and more. It's great to see Hammer House of Horror and Tales of the Unexpected again. Also great to catch up with the likes of Never The Twain and Don't Wait Up.

Another thing I live about ITV3 is that is doesn't repeat the same programmes (bar Rising Damp) very often. It's replace UKTV Gold in my household.

Also the CA's are much more professional then the ones on ITV1.

And which other channel offers you classic ITV endcaps? Smile

ITV3 did show a 1977 series called 'The Jasper Carrott Show' which I think hadn't been shown on Plus (as they showed more of his BBC/Celador work rather than LWT), I did E-Mail the Duty Office a couple of months ago to ask whether we'd see anymore of Jasper Carrott's LWT programme, but I was told there were no plans.

Never The Twain was something I vaguely remember when it was shown on ITV in the Early 1990's (I think it was repeated after then), but it wasn't until it was shown on ITV3 I fully remembered it, and it was quite good when they used to show it at 5.25pm on a weekday as I managed to watch most of the episodes that were made, heck I even bought the Series 1 DVD. Though I'm glad it's still on ITV3, shame it has to be a Saturday daytime, fingers crossed it'll get a better slot soon. Laughing

I never took to ITV3 when it came on air, but I can say now I'm rather impressed, there's some good programmes, which I would probably not see elsewhere or not interested in. Heck it's better than ITV2 IMO, I also have to say ITV4 is getting better too.

I can't help incorrectly remembering I.T.V 3 as the equivalent of B.B.C 3 - i.e. sh*te so I've never really bothered with it, minus Jeeves and Wooster runs. Class.

Should watch it a bit more though, sound as if they have a half-decent line up.
