is the plan for itv3 to be present on the d3&4 mux?
even if it is to be broadcast on d3&4, id imagine gmtv (especially since carlton and granada tightened their grip on gmtv's ownership) would be willing to sell the 6-9.25am slot to itv.

Is there space on the D3&4 mux for it? Surely this will lead to ITVdigital style compression of all channels on there.
On a related note, what's wrong with their now and next data at the moment? It's been saying Dennis The Mennis has been on BBC1 for days and there hasn't been anything on ITV or C4 at all.

Well they could replace the ITV News channel. It's getting poor ratings though it does do better on DTT than elsewhere (it was more popular than Sky News, not sure if it still is though) so if they were to keep the channel running they would want to do so on DTT.

Well AFAIK ITV have fully used up their share of the channels, please correct me if I am wrong, but ITV have got their 3 channels in full operation and that is what they're entitled to, but if they want to use another channel they would need permission of Channel 4, as they're only using 1 channel and they've leased out the 2 others.
It will probably be on D3&4 MUX, if not SDN I'd say.
The only way that ITV News could be affected is if it got moved to another MUX, AFAIK ITV aren't planning to shut it down, for once I think it is doing pretty well.

ITV News does pretty well on Freeview I think - second most popular NC according to an article regarding ITV complaining about the Sky EPG. I think this is mainly due to people like me getting Freeview and not being used to the Sky News team. I generally go for ITV News first, with Sky News the last option.

twitter over at DS:Forum is that it can only come to DTT if it timeshares with More4. Price-Drop - whose contract on DTT runs out in November - will be replaced by More4. Now from where I'm standing More4 and ITV3 both seem gendered towards a post-6pm audience. With ABC1 going 24hrs after its initial launch this leaves a quandry. Will ITV3 only broadcast 6am-6pm on DTT, yet 24hrs on NTL/$KY etc?
Or perhaps with ITVNC being useless during the evening (carrying progs from ITV1 and then just repeating itself from about 11:30 onwards) maybe it could timeshare there.
Of course the ultimate question is....what channel number will it be? It can't have 1-33.

It certainly won't time share with More4 - it will be it's biggest competitor.
I think the Freeview EPG needs a shake-up. Having Top Up TV mixed in with the Freeview channels really annoys me - I think it make much more sense to have them say from 100+.
I think now they should re-organise it to have say 1-4 be BBC1-4 together, then 11-15 be ITV1-3/C4/five. etc, with other channels from 20+, Kids, News and Text as they are (or perhaps move CBBC/CBeebies to 5/6), Shopping channels from 60+, then radio as you are, Top Up TV from 100 and interactive from 700+.
Also - as Digital3&4 and SDN manages around 6-7 channels each on their multiplex at no worse quality (on my TV at least) than the BBC, I think the other multiplexes should aim for 6 channels each. Move BBC4 and News Multiscreen to the main BBC multiplex, then use the free space on the other multiplex for more interactive streams - which could also be rented out to other channels if they need them.

Great Another Channel to Turn Off! ITV3 dosnt sound too good. ITV as a whole is going down hill! There is nothing to make you turn it on. Most of it is repeats, crap imports or home-made rubbish. Adding another channel will just mean poorer programes for ITV1 (dont have ITV2) as money will be invested into ITV3 to get it up and running! The channel does come across as quite cheap and tattered, if you know what i mean. And, particulary with Corrie, great actors like Richard (Live on man!), serial Murderer, shouldnt be taken off. The soap is going to a new phase, new actors that arn't from Manchester! Its mad!!!
