So will they show London regional news or put an alternative programme on instead?

Has anything been said about what's happening to Men & Motors? If ITV1HD Is taking its EPG slot on Sky, does that mean it's moving to a new slot, or quietly being closed down in the same way they shut down Granada Plus when ITV3 took its EPG slot?

I don't tune in that often, but I notice that ITV1 HD on Sky is currently showing Emmerdale. Is it supposed to, as it's not on itv.com's HD listings?

It has ran an upscaled version of ITV1 some evenings on and off for the past few months - seems to be pot luck if you catch something upscaled though.

It'll be London news with a huuuuuuge strap at the bottom of the screen throughout:

could they make it much smaller Laughing
surely they could either put nothing ( I think people will relise that there not watching the right regional news )
or they could at least make it a bit smaller or put it under the DOG, like mtv ect. do to advertise programmes !

I mocked this up quickly just now (it would be next to the watermark - so on the left side of the ITV1 HD watermark, because I'm using this example, right side of the ITV HD watermark):

Quote:
Thank you for your enquiry regarding Men & Motors.

We can confirm that the channel will close on the Sky platform at 06.00 on 1 April. Channel 178 will be used for ITV1 HD from 2 April.

Thank you, once again, for taking the trouble to contact ITV.

It would make more sense if they used it in a similar way to what BBC One used back when LDN was carried nationwide on satellite, with the banner appearing during the titles at the start. Another option they could have used is to create a red button application to be activated in regional slots with the option to switch to any regional bulletin, switching back and exiting once its finished.

Problem would be introducing a Red Button ITV service across two multiplexes on DTT. The problems there could be enormous, switching across from a Single Statmuxed DVB-T2 mux to a variety of different regional interpretations of the DVB-T D34 Mux and vice-versa.

I somehow don't think ITV would have the inclination to develop such an application. A better caption overlay is perhaps the best that can be offered until the substitute for the Regional programming, as proposed in the ITV application to OFCOM is provided on ITV1-HD.

Good news for SkyHD customers today that Five HD will be launching in July. I think that makes Sky the only platform to have all terrestrial channels' HD services.
