BGT was also in the ITV1 HD press release. Also 'Over the Rainbow' is using the BGT studio, and that goes out in HD. Unless if the auditions are in SD.

In the papers today they're going on about BGT in HD, and Cowell's worries about his appearance in HD, and I'm sure I've seen a promo for it telling me it's also on ITV 1 HD.

Given that Cowell's been shot in HD on American Idol for a couple of years now - that bit about him being worried about his appearance in HD sounds a bit fishy to me...

That is why I can see it - but it was on the left when it launched now it's on the right

It moves to the right on football coverage to avoid clashing with the score and clock - as does the BBC HD dog. Was it sport you were watching?

No, for some reason the DOG was on the right for Joanna Lumley's Nile, then it was back on the left for the film after the news!

It couldn't possibly have been a mistake.

Well, I did fire off a rather pompously snotty email to ITV Viewer Services about placing an obtrusive bright yellow DOG on its quality high-def programmes, but leaving the ordinary upscaled pap unscathed. Today I received two emails:

Interestingly, the first one contained some internal debate about what was the correct response (though it wasn't, as it mentioned something I hadn't even queried:

Hi D********

I have received a few emails today (Wed) very similar to the one below. I have logged them individually and responded with:

Is this still the response to use? (I haven't logged or answered the email)

Dear

Thank you for your recent email.

Along with all other broadcasters we are keen to actively promote and draw attention to our channels on the digital platforms. The DOG's (Digital Onscreen Graphics) quickly identify our channels for viewers where there are numerous channels to choose from.

Whilst we appreciate you find these annoying I'm afraid they will remain onscreen.

Our Engineering team has assured us that there is no danger of the ‘screen burn’ to which you refer but if you have any concerns you should contact your TV manufacturer directly.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to contact us here at ITV as we always welcome viewers feedback.

Not sure if this is new but the ITV HD logo has lost its colour and looks like the BBC HD logo
