I wonder if they tweak the news too ....

Are these additional idents or replacement idents? I'm hoping for the latter- we've got 2 sets running at the minute and they're very bland and dreary. New ones have potential with descriptions, its just if they've done it properly or not. I'm assuming they're keeping the 'alive with yellow' theme.

I do hope they change the news - othewise it'll be a bit of a miss-mash.

Were not really sure untill tomorrow - but I think there going to be additional - as only last friday they altered the idents for the HD channel - I don't think they would bother doing that if they were going to get red of them.

I think everyone agrees that the current ones are bland. Although as there proberly keeping them, I think all we can hope for is a change of music, which could make them a lot better ( it's proberly is mainly the music that makes them dreary.)

I agree the new ones do sound quite good, will have to wait and see how there executed.

If by 'alive with yellow' theme you mean the endoard sparkles ect, there "proberly" going to change them to the below one's.

The strap over London News is really annoying me now, it's almost half of the screen! Covers all of the astons and graphics and makes the local news almost unwatchable! Seriously, it just needs a small graphic!

Can't you watch in SD?

Maybe they would be better off replacing the London News completely. What about a bit of ITV Nightscreen (rebranded ITV Dayscreen obviously) or loads of trailers? Maybe a film loop showing off their best HD footage, like BBC HD do/did in their downtime. They could even just show a menu with the days HD programme(s) highlighted.

Some sort of HD trailer would make most sense, though they'd probably still put a big message up saying the local news is available on 103.

So the channel has launched. The hd part of the DOG is a little pixelated round the edges. Have new idents been aired yet?

So... the first of the new idents has finally appeared ("sunflowers")! Thank goodness that dreadful dreary music has been dropped on it, a nice addition.

I forgot to check if the ident was in HD, does anyone know?

Also wasn't too impressed with the way the logo formed. If I had done it I would have had the logo open up like a flower.

It appears that in the Channel Islands, we can't get ITV HD on the Sky EPG or on Freesat. Channel 178 currently just says unavailable.

Obviously pres from the update has been a bit elusive this evening, what with a few films taking up long slots, and mostly the FA Cup breakbumper being used in breaks. There was a glimpse of one of the new bumpers on ITV1 HD between Harry Potter and the late news though:-

I miss the days when I used to be able to be infront of a TV during the day to catch these things...
