Freesat website now promoting all ITV1 HD's programmes as being in HD.

And the 'What's on in HD' page is headed by a giant picture of C4's The Good Wife', which isn't available in HD on Freesat.

Unbelievable. They must be getting desperate.

Yes this was what I couldn't mention. I knew there would be some new idents, didn't realise there would only be 4 though!! Seems a bit poor. But will wait to see what they are like.

About the Friday launch, I was told Monday was a day to look out for, so maybe the idents will launch then, but they may have changed it to Friday.

That's one of the 1st things I though - 4?
Although just had a look on your website, in Nov 06 the first 6 were introduced and then in Sep 07 the 4 new ones were introduced. So mabye in 6/9 months time there intoduce some more?

I'm just surprised that the've done it a week later and gone to all the bother of changing the HD one's - surely they should have launch these with the lauch of ITV1 HD?

I expect there use the Endboard's ect that where seen a few week ago?

Lastly the music has to of changed ( doesn't it! Laughing )

Yes it does seem odd that they would delay this launch and spend time editing the current idents.
I was told the launch of HD was rushed slightly which was why the new look hasn't aired yet, but begs the question why did they have the other edited idents ready?!

And about 4 idents, you could be right. Maybe they will just start with 4, see how they go, how viewers react to them etc then make some more. And if they use the same music I will throw a brick at the TV!!! (I didn't say my TV so you better watch you!! Haha)
Oh and regarding the current music, no names mentioned, but someone who works for ITV hates the music as much as we all do!

Although no doubt this is paving the future for ITV when they claim they can no longer sustain their current regional structure and try and beg OFCOM to just let them do 6.


Would be very surprised if they mixed and matched. Suspect it will be the "main" news region that is taken - i.e. Granada Manchester, Central Birmingham etc. (South vs East will be interesting - suspect Meridian South will win that?)

Hmm - you could read that as presenting listings for the HD channels, not presenting just the HD programmes. An HD-only channel listing for ITV1 HD would look very odd - with large gaps - and wouldn't be as useful. (Now if only Sky let me remap 103 to ITV1 HD...)

It is totally misleading and makes BBC HD look bad for HD content when compared side by side..

The page itself and the URL don't make an explicit claim though - which is what you linked to. They are simply the listings for a channel that broadcasts in HD.

The front page - which I've now seen - does say "What's on in HD" in the link to the page you linked to - and I agree that form of words is confusing. "What's on the HD Channels" would be less ambiguous - and it would be good if SD content on ITV1 HD were flagged as an upconvert.

However I don't think it is sensible or feasible to not list SD content in the listings of a simulcast channel like ITV1 HD.

I guess until now Freesat haven't had to worry as BBC HD doesn't show SD upconverted shows (though some content within an HD show may be)

strange isn't it - you'd think there's air the normal ITV1 idents on the HD channel for the week and then change them with this refresh! this way there've changed the logo for the week!

Which leads me to think these might be just additions to the current set and there keep airing the current one's too ( and just change the logo & mabye music on the old ones) - do you know whether there'll keep airing the old ones?

about the music - my TV - no way ! Very Happy
whoever it is that works at ITV has some sense then!
everyone doesn't agree on here too often, but i think everone agrees that the music could not be duller!
