I heard a rumour the current idents are only temporary.........

The DOG is vile isn't it?

BBC HD, after a lot of comments on their controller's blog, introduced a policy of removing their dog for drama and movies, and reduced its transparency so it is much less distracting when it is present.

ITV need to do the same for their's, as do MGM HD. It's the equivalent of Radio Four paying an announcer to whisper - or shout - "You're listening to Radio Four" every 30 seconds when you're trying to listen to a programme...

Its not exactly an intrusive DOG though, its just shoved in the corner and isn't really noticeable unless you actually look for it.

I couldn't disagree more. It's big, it's opaque, and I find it very distracting.

If someone came along and stuck a sticky label the same size and in the same position on your TV screen you'd find it distracting I suspect... I find DOGs like that just the same.

I have to say the DOG doesn't actually bother me all that much. Now its in the left corner, and has been made smaller, I soon forget about it.

Of course it would be much better if it was faded, but looking at ITV's other digital channels, I can't see that happening any time soon.

It doesn't bother me because its right in the corner, its not in the usual position. I don't really watch the top left of my screen so I don't really see it. It probably would be better if it was transparent or even greyscale but I don't see the problem with it really. Ruth Langsford's cardigan is far worse!

But it's so unnecessary, there's absolutely no reason for it to be opaque and full colour when a semi-transparent DOG would do the same job without obtruding as much of the programme.

Marketplace ident into Poirot there. I'm sure it's already been played out since they launched (before Corrie or something I think someone said), but it's the first time I've seen it pop up since I've been watching, whilst I've seen fountains a million times.

It's always fun seeing which of these get outings more than others. Has anyone noticed any which are still to air, or have they all gone out now?

The only one of the ten idents which hasn't aired is Basketball. (Well I haven't seen it and no one else has mentioned it)

As an aside, Ashley posted Fiver's new Fairground ident on This is Five over a week ago, yet having recorded several day's worth of junctions, I've not seen it once. Regarding ITV1HD, I've not captured the Beach bumper yet - not sure if it's played out, though.
