It wouldn't be acceptable for the HD channels to replace the SD channels on 101-104 at present as there are significantly fewer HD subscribers. If HD viewers can't be bothered hunting for their channel further down the EPG, then I doubt the SD viewers would be particularly pleased about having to do it.

Surely they could swap SD and HD channels for Sky+HD viewers only?

The Market ident played before the second ep of Corrie. The new logo started playing out like in the original, but then once its appeared from behind the guy with the carpet, its out in front permanent and doesn't hide behind the second guy later like in the original. Still looked good though.

They really need to sort that DOG out, on Twitter someone thought Corrie was in HD because of the DOG.

Yes I agree. they should only have the DOG for native HD programmes. Mind you, if they did that, we would never see the DOG would we Laughing

They don't seem to be able to do that with the current software, otherwise HD channels wouldn't have to use a seperate channel number and appear on the SD EPG, albeit now just with a message rather than actual programme details.

Does anyone with Freesat not yet have ITV HD on 119? I got a message yesterday that one channel had changed, and one had been removed (presumably M&M). If I change my postcode from a Jersey one to an English one, ITV HD does appear on 119, but then of course I've got the wrong regional BBC1/ITV.

I suspect that you are in the same boat as UTV and STV viewers - being outside of an ITV area, you don't get ITVHD.

The Freesat boxes I have seen allow you to save the channel manually.

On the earlier point about being able to save the channel as 103 - I suspect ITV wouldn't want that, due to the regional advertising issue. They would much rather you watched your regional adverts, rather than the national feed on the HD channel at the moment.

And yet I'm still allowed to push the red button from the local ITV1 and get it that way - there was me thinking we'd just been forgotten! Is it just because the independents wouldn't stump up any cash?

Hardly earth-shattering - but six of the idents so far shown (missed 'Bike', and no sign of 'Bubbles' or 'Market' yet.)

2 solutions really, one is to add ITV1 HD as a red button option (press red to view in HD) and then it automatically taking you back to the SD channel for regional news, or simply a slide on ITV1HD saying "to view your regional programme, please go to channel ____".

I think it a HD version of each region would just be pointless but I think the way the HD channels are currently set out is stupid. The channels are on obscure numbers and if there is something people want to watch, then they'll most likely go to the SD channel because they can't find the HD channel or its too much hassle.

The red button option isn't really acceptable as you can't record from it on Sky at least, I don't know about V+.

I think for the general entertainment channels at least it might be better if the HD channels were packaged together in their own section for now rather than scattered through the EPG - perhaps with a bit of a reshuffle BBC/ITV/C4/Sky1 HD on 201-206, with other HD channels from 210. Sky Movies HD and Sky Sports HD probably better off staying in the genre section.

This is why there is a 'HD' section of the EPG - select it and it shows you all of the HD channels grouped together and is easy to find exactly what you want. Rolling Eyes

It seems from ITV's own website, that access via the Red Button will be retained

http://www.itv.com/itv1hd/questionsaboutitv1hd/

That same page suggests that macro-regional versions of ITV1HD will appear from June. I suspect they will be FTV encrypted, and only available on Sky's platform. There's no room on 2D for anymore, unless ITV move more SD regions to FTV on 2B ?

The Market ident played out before the second episode of Corrie last night.

It's A shame with the buildings ident the logo doesn't appear like it used to. Now it just faded in.

With the beach ident, I am wondering what will happen to the logo later in the ident when the wind break comes back onto screen and covers the logo in the original version if you watch the original version around 12/13 seconds you will see what I mean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veH19YxzvtE

The reason I am wondering is because with the Market ident, the new version the logo doesn't hide like it does in the original at 13/14 seconds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnmxpM8LroQ&feature=related
