It's strange that they're calling it ITV 1+1 West on the EPG, if it's really showing ITV 1+1 Wales.

If anything, West and Westcountry should be showing one of the English regions.

Remember the regions for ITV1+1 follow the macro-regions for advertising sales - the pattern has nothing to do with editorial factors.

That makes Wales and the West an issue. Do viewers in the West get the Welsh schedule changes? Or do viewers in Wales lose out on their programmes on the +1? Neither is ideal.

Putting ITV1 Wales on the +1 might be good for ITVplc politically. But how would this work out in practice?

(To be fair - generally only one opt a week goes out before 10.35pm, or 11.35pm on the +1, so the issue isn't that huge.)

Must have gone on 131 in the last half hour. I have it now.

EPG showing "This is ITV 1 +1" at 1:35, 2:35, 3:05-3:35, so no The Zone.

No listings past 6:30am yet.

I hope I can watch Daybreak on ITV1+1 because it seems to have more news in that hour than in the last 30mins I get to see.

I don't know why Freeview is showing 'ITV1+1 Wales'.

The satellite feed was clearly listed previously as being a +1 of 'ITV1 Westcountry South', so they've either subsequently changed that, or DSat and DTT are showing different feeds. However, it would be odd if DTT was showing Wales when a West/Westcountry version existed on Satellite.

It's difficult to tell at the moment, as EPG 131 is only showing programme data up to 11:30pm. Ths may be different for someone with an SD box, as they access a live version of the EPG, rather than one which is downnloaded. Perhaps someone could have a look to see what's showing at 6pm tomorrow.

EDIT:
Programme data for tomorrow has now appeared. It is indeed ITV1 Wales.

In the former Westcountry region we now get the news from 3 other regions. The offerings from ITV are now:
103 ITV1 (with news from Bristol - with the odd mention of Devon/Cornwall)
131 ITV1+1 (with news from Wales)
178 ITV1 HD (with news from Birmingham)

Lucky you. I get South on ITV1 and South East on ITV1+1 in Brighton. Its nice to have an another alternative region, albeit not an interesting one like STV or UTV, easily available on the EPG.

I notice that ITV1+1 doesn't show The Zone which is probably fair enough.

Since UTV and STV don't make money from the ads on channel 3 between 06:00 and 09:25, surely they wouldn't make money from them when they are repeated on +1 between 07:00 and 10:25 unless they have done a deal with ITV PLC. Would they just write off the revenue because it is cheaper just to blindly show what was on an hour earlier rather than putting up a caption on +1 just to spite ITV PLC?

Why would it be strange? On DTT each region is separately coded so it doesn't need any more bandwidth, just whatever kit does the delaying needs duplicating for each region at the playout centres.

On Satellite you'd need bandwidth for each region.

I've read somewhere that STV will be 10:25-7:00 and won't show Daybreak or Lorraine.

Yes, I appreciate that, but as the DTT Westcountry transmitters are fed vis DSat, it would have been odd if they were showing a different region to that available to those watching a DSat signal via Sky or Freesat.

What is all the more strange though, is that out of the two areas Wales (pop. 2.9m) and Westcountry/West (pop. 4.9m) they have decided to show the region with the smaller population. Shocked

I expected to see another version of ITV1+1 in the 900 range on Sky. Where will I watch programmes with AD an hour after they were first broadcast?
