When will it launch? Seen some stuff on the web about it but all say to launch in late 2010. Will it show daybreak and lorraine?

why are the called +1 when the programmes are an hour behind, shouldn't they be called ITV1-1 as it's ITV1 but an hour behind

would daybreak work on ITV1+1 if it's live and longer than an hour

Because something broadcast at 18:00 on the main channel can be seen at 19:00 (18[i]+1[i/]) on +1

"Work" in what sense? Any technical issues have probably already been surmounted by the likes of X Factor, Million Pound Drop, Big Brother. If you mean would it help capture more viewers, I'd have thought not - I'd think a +1's main draw is in allowing telly addicts to work around prime time clashes (or maybe that's just me).

That SAME question was only just asked last week,

As they are one hour behind the main channel and not an hour ahead, +1 channels should be called -1 channels.

But the timing of the actual programme is an hour +1 - I.e. a programme on Channel 4 at 9pm is 10pm on C4+1. That's where it comes from.

Now it makes sense.

What a pointless waste of time wanting ITV1+1. When I was a kid you didn't have Westward + 1, Southern + 1, HTV + 1, ATV + 1, Grampian + 1 etc, so why bother having ITV1 + 1 now? If Coronation Street happens to be on ITV1 at the same time as EastEnders on BBC1, then tough luck, get a video recorder of some sort (DVD/HDD recorder, Freeview+, Sky+ etc) and record Coronation Street so you can watch it after EastEnders.

When you were a kid? YOU'RE STILL A KID!

Regardless of that, there's a reason you didn't have all those +1 channels - because affordable technology to facilitate and deliver them hadn't been invented yet.

The only problem I have with +1 channels is when they are on limited capacity platforms such as Freeview, taking up a MUX spot that could be used by another channel.

On Virgin/Sky etc; they are a very useful alternative to programming a HDD recorder (many of which are still prohibitively expensive and overly complicated for some people). I'm sure you've been running late once coming back from one of your "adult kid" get-togethers, missed your favourite programme, and been grateful that said channel has a +1 to cater for it (although Cbeebies+1 hasn't launched yet; perchance this is the source of your bitterness?)

And frankly, shouting "tough luck" at people because they choose not to get the latest and greatest in televisual gadgetry stinks of high-handedness and bigotry in the first order, and you should be ashamed of yourself, you pathetic little man.

What a pointless waste of time...

Yes, because clearly Channel 4 +1 was such an uneconomical move that they shut it down months after launch. Oh, wait...

I don't know why the idea of ITV1 +1 has been dropped for now, but it's not about what people want - it's about how many extra viewers ITV can get for the price of a slot on the EPG and a few other costs. Admittedly I'm just pulling figures out of the air, but if you can get 10% more viewers for [the ads during] Downton Abbey without having to spend another 10% of the programme's budget, you'd probably have a bit of a think about doing that. And by "you" I mean a hypothetical rational human being who has a vested interest in ITV turning a healthy profit.

If a +1 channel makes enough revenue through advertising to offset it's carriage and additional rights costs and in addition make a little more profit, it's certainly much more of an economic proposition than an original content channel would be.

A place holder has appeared on my Freeview box called ITV Preview and that has an ITV 1+1 logo on it and some information about it coming soon
