Actually that's a silly thing to say. They equally can't say 'only on itv1', because many programmes are shown on other stations like RTE... it's fair enough to say this within your own region as the typical person in Newcastle isn't going to be watching Corrie on Granada etc.

There is no reason why dual branding shouldn't work. It worked well for ITV in 1989, it worked well for Carlton in 1999. It would have worked for ITV in 1999 as well, but they made a pigs ear of the look. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that just because SVC created a poor look in 1999 that they are all going to look terrible. Especially if YTV are only going to make a single ident, it's very very easy to make 6/7 versions of one ident look good you know, especially if the only difference is a single square on the screen.

All three I'm afraid. They show the terrible hearts idents, and then only ever the static version, most of the time the station name is not mentioned, the announcements are typically 'by numbers', there's no effort put into it, when the announcements are regional they are frequently messed up and the whole thing just looks like it's been put together as cheap as is humanly possible. Which is probably because it is...
