I know this may sound crazy but ITV News should do what the Beeb do.. hand over to the weather - with the forecast in the studio live.

Im sure they used to do that on the ITV Lunchtime News many years ago.

I don't really think that most people are bothered whether the weather is pre-recorded or not, just as long as the weather is on. Most can't tell if it is live or not anyway

Possibly before the sponsors. IIRC News has not to be seen to be sponsored (sorry for poor spelling) so it can be impartial and give balanced views so, as such if ITV news was to go stright to the weather they would have to leave the news with a sting then the weather, then back to the news with a sting thus showing that the weather is seperate from the news. - although how GMTV gets around this somedays is very questionable (even regional news uses stings to enter/leave the weather segment.)

Yes they didnt have sponsors on the lunchtime forcast due to that reason however im sure they did on other forcasts which werent within the news.

I think the regional weather on ITV is recorded as often the weather presenter joins the news presenter in the studio and they cut to the recorded forcast.

Not sure about the national.

I don't know about national either, but from this documentary, gives the impression that regional weather is recorded? Confused

oh how fab - if i'm not mistaken that's from *star jobs* on central jobfinder. that was a good series. worth noting that its a few years old now though.

it seems obvious to me that one weather presenter can't be reading separate weather forecasts for central west, east, south and htv west at the same time!

HTV West have their own team of presenters now while HTV Wales still have the Central team at times when our presenters arent available (weekends, holidays etc) but I see your point.

the old GMG companies Weather (Granada, Yorkshire, Tyne Tees and Border) are definitely recorded> Iremember seeing a regional programme a couple of years ago called Job Swap where Jo Blythe swapped jobs with "normal" people and showed the broadcast being recorded ready for broadcasting for the evening bulletin and the late bulletins!
PR
Primetime
Yup Tyne Tees record theirs.

It would make sense i suppose, i dont expect them to hang around all day and into the night to say the same thing

UTV's lunchtime and late weather forecasts are pre-recorded but the main 17:55 forecast presented during UTV Live is definitely live. Up until quite recently, the lunchtime and late forecasts were just voiced over by the CA or presenter reading the news but when Frank Mitchell became a presenter on the morning show on U105.8FM they started pre-recoring them. (U105 is in the same building as UTV so obviously Frank is going to be around, hence why he now presents all forecasts!)

On ITV Wales the 11.10, 13.50, 18.00 and 22.50 forcasts are all done by the same presenter - its only GMTV bulletins that the newsreader voices. So I dont expect any are live as the presenter wouldnt be in all that time.
