I tend to agree with most of the views on this, IMO the National weather and GMG graphics were more professional and far superior to the current ones which make Five's pre-Sky news production graphics look great.

I always thought that Granada Weather took the right look with the current style, even though it didn't appear on Yorkshire or Nationally.

This cap was taken shortly after the relaunch in 2005, but I don't think the current [itv] WEATHER [] tag would be intrusive.

the South Coast moves past so quickly you can't focus on the weather.

And they seem to stop at the Scottish/English border as well. I feel sorry for the folks up in the north of Scotland.

I actually prefer ITV's weather graphics Embarassed I don't like the way the BBC's map is out of proportion somehow. The south coast of England is very detailed, whilst northern Scotland is so compressed, you have to have a good squint to look at it properly Confused

Last I checked the national weather was live. The regions I don't know. I think London record their weather, and I think Anglia do so they can focus the map on the sub regions. However I think many of the other regions are live, but I could be wrong.

I believe all weather on ITV is recorded. There's been a lot of weather outtakes on 'It shouldn't happen to a TV's naughtiest blunders on the night 8' to prove this

I think the regional weather on ITV is recorded as often the weather presenter joins the news presenter in the studio and they cut to the recorded forcast.

Not sure about the national.

I know this may sound crazy but ITV News should do what the Beeb do.. hand over to the weather - with the forecast in the studio live.

I have an outtake from during the summer on my website which shows Becky Mantin being left hanging when the sponsor stings failed to play on the lunchtime weather. If it were recorded, surely they would have done it again?

The national weather is recorded sponsor-less at ITN, the sponsor stings are played out at the time of broadcast by presentation.

TBH, I don't really bother with BBC weather or the main ITV weather, just GMTV weather (Claire Nasir Razz ) and Granada Reports weather because its more local and not as general ....
