Was up in Wales vistiting some friends the other week. Does ITV1 in Wales still have live Welsh continuity announcers on it. Because I heard the word Wales a number of times during my time there. Does it still come Cardiff?

No, it hasn't had Welsh announcers since 2006 (not sure when they were last live - might have been before that).

The only announcements which are different to the English regions - and therefore mention Wales - are before opt-outs and they're recorded by the London announcers.

(Edit: a quick bit of research suggests that ITV1 Wales continuity hasn't been live since the summer of 2003, according to TV Live.)

I believe that from 2003-2006 the announcements were recorded at the announcer's homes and sent via ISDN.. correct me if i'm wrong though.

Don't they still key "Wales" under the ITV1 logo on the idents?

Only in front of regional programmes and on regional promos.

They used to do that at every junction though, even after the contunuity moved to London. The word 'Wales' was generated over the boring network idents as they were played out. So, they don't do this now, it's just 'ITV1' on network programmes?

This practice was dropped when the new ITV1 HD idents were adopted.

There were far too many problems... sometimes the word "Wales" would get stuck into the programme or not appear at all.

The regional programming promotions still use the 2006 2D-style itv1 logo and endboard, however using Arial instead of the ITV corporate font.
