Oh my goodness.... I've not seen this anywhere and I have only just found out...

The ITV1 Wales announcers have been made redundant and from tomorrow everything will come from London. Anyone shed any light on whetherthis is true or not?

It was going to happen eventually unfortunately. Now (if the OP is right), it's just the 2 SMG stations, UTV and Channel.

Why was ITV 1 Wales continuity not live Confused .As far as i was aware the announcers were there and were in Cardiff pre recording the announcements just before the programmes, what was the point of that.
Surely it would have been better live.

Does this mean that all welsh branding will go too and it will simply be ITV1 in Wales now?

This is hardly a surprise.

It was predicted four years ago that the ITV Cardiff announcers were living on borrowed time. I'm surprised it's taken ITV this long to give them the boot.

A sad day for regional broadcasting, though.

A sad day for ITV in Wales, but it's not clear, is it still gonna be branded ITV1 Wales all day or just before regional programmes? Sad

I cant say im surprised by this news at all, we have seen it coming for the last 3 years. Are we sure this is true though? There is no source for this information afterall.

If it is true im sure we will get used to it.

It is a shame to hear the Welsh voices are going. It makes sense financially, but it is a nice way to keep a regional feel to a national brand.
