It was opposite the Strictly Final! I think that explains it

Why is this being discussed in this thread anyway

You mean why are ratings for an ITV1 show being discussed in a thread about ITV1's ratings.

What's wrong with that? Of course, the fact it means in this case it was a BBC triumph over ITV1 is purely coincidental. Does your intense support for ITV1 have no bounds?

it is strange, we still complain about how bad ITV is YET there have the BEST rated programmes this year, with the BBC have next to nothing!

Well Strictly Come Dancing will probably become the second/third most watched show of the year, behind Coronation Street when the officials are released.

Strictly Come Dancing reached it's peak of 12.3 million during the Results show.

Surprised Stars in their eyes didnt make the top 10?

19 …. 2.8 (11.3%) …. Stars In Their Eyes Celebrity Special (21:30) ITV

Thanks.

Im surprised it was a low as that for a peak time show. And by the looks of it they are making more of it as they gave a number out for interested people for future shows. Maybe it is losing popularity?

Maybe something to do with the lack of Celebrity in this particular programme. Stars In Their Eyes worked much better without the Celebrity element. And Cat Deeley really is a bland host. Bring back Matthew Kelly!

Thats true, they are hardly A list celebs! However I felt it would still do better than 19th place in the ratings.

So updating the original list with what we know anout this week so far (and remembering that the overnights will be lower than the ultimate rating as videoed showings get added), it seems that SCD improved its position, and Vicar of Dibley and the Pirates film will both make the top ten, pushing out two ITV programmes.

FINAL CONFIRMED TOP 10:
1. Coronation Street (ITV1) 12.5m
2. The Vicar of Dibley (BBC1) 12.4m
3. EastEnders (BBC1) 12.3m
4. Strictly Come Dancing (BBC1) 12.1m
5. Dancing on Ice (ITV1) 11.6m
6. Lewis (ITV1) 11.3m
7. Wild at Heart (ITV1) 10.8m

9. A Touch of Frost (ITV1) 10.07m
10. I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! (ITV1) 10.04m

Pirates of the Caribbean would of been in it, but Scotland's ratings didn't count as it started 30 minutes later there. World Cup matches are also excluded.

For top 10:
BBC = 3
ITV = 7

For top 5:
BBC = 3
ITV = 2

And the BBC have got off to a flyer in 2007, with I think 2 programmes that should be challenging for the top 10 in 11 months time- the final Vicar of Dibley (over 12m) and Waking The Dead (nearly 10m without recorders added in yet).

ITV= Highest scorer

Not just you can sugar coat things. Why do some people feel the need to sugarcoat facts to make others thing ITV is doing really badly? This ITV slagging off is getting boring now.

There are still 353 days left of 2007, and ITV have Britains got Talent, Corrie (tonights should be a high scorer), X Factor, Dancing on Ice etc.

Well tough **** ****, because I for one am going to continue "slagging off" ITV at ever available opportunity. ITV is the most hopeless television network in Britain, and a prime candidate for the same accolade worldwide. It relies on constant spoon feeding of endless soap operas, endless 9pm dramas starring former soap opera actors who aren't very good, endless banal reality shows created as platforms for Arse and Dick and Simon Cowell (surprised he doesn't **** off to America permanently), stealing programming ideas from other broadcasters (Grease as a response to How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria, and Primeval as a response to Doctor Who) and tabloid style news and current affairs programming.

I wonder how Channel 4 will do in the ratings?

Considering they were the only terrestrial network to remain stable year-on-year 2005 vs. 2006, very well thank you very much.

I love the fact that you've made up your mind about a number of shows yet to air on ITV, simply because you believe it's a rip-off. So what if they got the idea from Doctor Who? If that means ITV are going to pull their finger out and start commissioning more quality drama then I say go for it.
