Is ITV1 sounding a bit muffled to you?

Poor sound quality (November 2005)

Don't know if its just me but for the past week, ITV1 on analogue has sounded very muffled and not very crisp. All the other channels sound fine and on digital, it is fine too. I am receiving ITV Central from the Sutton Coldfield/Lichfield transmitter.

Now is it just my set, or has anyone else noticed this? If it was a national fault, you would have expected this to have been put right by now... Rolling Eyes

Funny you should say that, we're getting it from the same transmitter and the sound is indeed very slightly muffled in comparison to the others - I notice it more on music, in particular during ITN titles & credits...

I thought it was me, half asleep at half-10... not hearing it right... Smile

If the other channels are OK (and IMO they are) then could it really be a transmitter problem?

It must be your transmitter.

It's all fine here in the Scottish region.

Might not be the transmitter, could be a fault on the Central West output.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one then! It has been like that for a WHOLE WEEK now. Anybody else getting the same problems?

I think you'll find it all depends on who the duty 'continuity announcer' is. Sad Some sound as if they have a sock in the mouth.!!

Someone on uk.tech.broadcast has posted an oscilloscipe analysis of the titles to the Bill recorded some time ago and a recent recording during this fault, which apparently shows *something*, but it's somewhat over my head
