Right, lets start taking bets at what ridiculous cryptic channel id's will be given to the itv1 tests on monday:

my guess is ICL, ICC, IGR, ISC

(I for ITV1, CL for Carlton London, CC for Carlton Central, GR for Granada, SC for Scottish etc.), or can anyone think of anything more ridiculous......

Hope Ed doesn't mind me pasting this from MHP-Chat

ITV has begun testing on SKY Digital.
The tests are:

10832H - 5 ITV regions
19891H - 7 ITV regions
10906V - 4 ITV regions

All the tests show a William Road Test card with some EPG infomation.
I understand the tests were to be from around 9am to 5pm today Friday.

ITV tests begin officially this coming Monday.
Watch this space!!

Phew! My countdown seemed to be correct! Not sure about 9-5pm tests - more like just around lunchtime I think!

Time to get down to Woolies for a bunch of blank tapes me thinks...

Cheers, Asa

What do you think will happen on the 29th? Do you think it will all begin with a test card? Or an ident-loop?

What are your ideas?

A popular Sky Digital website's speculations are as follows:

10.832H could carry Carlton/LWT, Carlton Central, Carlton HTV Wales, Carlton HTV West and Carlton Westcountry.
10.891H could carry Anglia TV and six other channels, with 10.906V will carry the other four regional channels.

So maybe 10.832H is the Carlton transponder Smile

Come to Robert Dyas for your blank tapes (if there's one near you). A set of videos for £4.99 is on offer at the mo. The best deal around!

Don't think for a minute that all 15 regions of ITV will be on air 24 hours a day on Sky Digital.

As standard, your own region will probably be on air 24 hours a day. But I suspect other local ITV regions will only come on when there are variations to your own area, i.e. local news magazine, sport etc.

And if 5 or local ITV regions outwith your own region are showing the same programme, but a completely different programme to what you are watching in your own area, I would presume that only one region will go on air.

But at least you will soon get a choice of ITV programmes at various times during the day soon rather than missing out on programmes you would find much more enjoyable in the very next region compared to your own.

A ratings battle at 7.30pm between Granada and Grampian would be far more interesting than one between BBC One and ITV.

What? Don't be silly!

All regions will be FTA - they won't enable them for different periods of time - that would be silly!!

They will all be available FTA. Maybe your own region will only be available on 103, but all other regions will be available via Add Channels!!

Sorry David, but I think that is complete nonsense!!

Someone is not going to be designated to 'switch on and off' regions simply for the sake of it!!

There not going to check, is this person viewing on ch103 therefore we should keep this on 24hrs(!). AFAIK, a deal has been done with Sky this week to stick your region on 103 and keep outsiders out but UK viewers will be able to view FTV ITV1 channels (any of them - 24hrs!) either off the EPG or add channels when it officially launches in November.

Cheers, Asa
...Getting ready to laugh in the faces of members of DigitalSpy forum who had a nerve to attack people like me who believed that ITV may allow us all the regions to view.
