Yep, Anglia is testing fine. Just to clarify, it's still broadcasting the test card, not the actual Anglia signal. I don't think we can be specific about anything yet. There's always speculation about things like this and more often than not it turns out to be nothing other than speculation. We've had nothing to say that all regions are going to be available - other than some whirring reports a few months ago, but as far as I am aware very little has been confirmed by ITV and talks are still on-going. I'm still hoping for all regions available - to be honest the only real down side for this is advertising revenue. Essentially by putting all ITV regions on Sky you are creating 16 new national networks. So the situation will be very awkward for advertisers. It adds to viewer choice if we're able to see all ITV regions, there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to see them all already. There's certainly no reason why we shouldn't be able to see all BBC regions - considering that we pay for them.

Right so it's not just Granada people then.

It does sound good, what you're saying LogoWatch. Can I ask does the guy you spoke work for NTL/ITV then?

He used to work for ntl, but not anymore. *BUT* he is in contact with people he knows who still works there, so I would imagine that what he says is as accurate as it can be. He does have quite a few toys which allows for analysis of the received data as well. Actually I have some equipment, but I haven't got any of it set up.

I am confident that all itv1 regions will be FTV, with your region being available on 103. The others will be somewhere else, probably in the 800's. Anglia will probably been seen really soon now Smile

To be honest, I don't think this is a problem. As long as ITV can ensure that the viewer gets their region on 103 (which is technically possible without having to fully encrypt - as I understand it, itv have done a deal with sky to allow for this functionallity based on the postcode), then they are happy. The other regions will be FTV, most likely in the 800's.

I am still confident that this is the way it is going to be. I expect to see Anglia on DSat very soon indeed, if not the weekend, then early next week. I'm talking about Monday or Tueday here.

I do hope you are right -- it is fair to say that most people would only tune to an external ITV region if there is a specific thing they want to watch. I can't see advertising revenue being hit significantly by this!

Anyone else noticed how Leeds are playing out loads of pre-recorded regional announcements recently? They've just played out '..... but now on Tyne Tees' for the last few progs tonight, rather than the usual itv1 nonsense! Wonder if they'll keep this up, and does this have anything to do with them going on DSat??? It's probably unrelated Confused

Anyway, I think it is very likely that the regions will be available on DSat VERY soon, and and official launch date can't really be that far off. It is costing ITV now that they are occupying the transponders, and they certainly don't want to be paying the rental costs just for testing for that long. Further, the N+N on the EPG is almost fully functional, with the data programmed for each of the regions. This suggests that launch date is coming really soon.

Logowatch, this may be obvious, so pardon my ignorance - but what is N + N ? Confused

Yeah, sorry. That should have been an '&' and not a '+' !
Don't worry, it's not some tech thing I was trying to get people confused over, rather just my sloppy typing, or typing without engaging brain Wink

One small snag -- someone on DigitalSpy is saying that he is in the Grampian area and can only receive the Grampian test -- no Anglia. Not confirmed of course but that sounds bad... do we know if anyone outside the Granada areas can receive Anglia test?

No longer a snag, he's confirmed he can only get Anglia as well, and not anything else!

Getting Anglia in STV now, it's looking good! Anyone know when this service is available? I know official launch is Nov 27th but surely we'll get trailers or something on the '103' slot until it launches?

This is just like the old days of Sky Analogue, tuning in new channel frequencies then getting impatient because you want something nnew to happen!
