Yeah I think the time is derived from the actual channel...

Harshy, if you hate TTTV so much why don't you get cable, then you'll be able to watch YTV in all it's superiority!!

[EDIT] In fact, something has just dawned on me, Harshy. You live in Bradford, right? (I take it you are Harshad from digitalspy who is forever slagging off TTTV). Well if the regions are postcoded you will get YTV on Sky Digital!!! So you won't have to slag off TTTV anymore, you'll get your beloved Yorkshire Television and all it's total superiority to TTTV (allegedly, I can get both and I have to say that YTV's local programming is worse than TTTV's!!!).

I've got Digital Cable and recieve YTV but wish I didn't! I'd love to have a different region! Because all regional stuff (including news) on YTV is total c**p! You with Sky are lucky!

I agree with you. There's nothing I'd like better than to get a station like one of the SMGs, Carltons or UTV. They are simply of a higher order continuity-wise than crap Granada channels. Even if TTTVs local output is pretty decent, their continuity is rubbish!!

At the time of me writing this 2-2 doesnt appear to be bringing up a weird conditional access message, showing the testcard and EPG data.

Well there you go. This channel is still encrypted (clear but with the VG tag) but perhaps they are going to program the CA system with the correct details over the next few days. Then perhaps the channels will clear, who knows...

I hope so.

Someone else said that maybe they will only use regions on DSat for local news, and use one global region for everything else.

This leads me to a question - how would the idents work? Would they opt out just for idents or just have an 'ITV1' ident, with no region name?

This probably won't be the case, but we don't know for sure!

Uh-oh!!!! Sad

I've just read a post on Digital Spy that a guy in the Anglia region can get Anglia in the clear (2-1).

Now we have a report of someone in the Granada region getting Granada in the clear (2-2).

That's torn it. We can't get all regions...

edit: ah hold on, not necessarily. 2-2 is Border. Hmmm.....

Be patient, we could see an all-region service yet, they could just be making sure regions work where they're supposed to before going national...

Well for the record I can't get Meridian, or indeed anything else, here.

However its all speculation anyway - from what digital spy were saying after actually PHONING UP itv and speaking to them they weren't decided on what how it was finally going to work.

Clearly this current setup really only can be temporary - they are going to have to buy more transponder space at some point to be able to come with all these sub regions.

As a viewer in East Kent, I can't see myself tuning in to watch the news from Southampton every night.

Neh, thats not going to be the case because they'll need them for other regional programming, regional trailiers, regional idents, regional adverts, regional voiceovers (any more, any one?).

I wouldn't read anything into this - I live in the Central/YTV region, I can't get Central, nor can I get YTV. In fact, I can't get ANYTHING.
