Whatever thier descision, it doesn't say a lot for ITV Sport when the presenters and production team dry up early! Perhaps they should have had something on standby to fill their alloted time! (although, not being a footy fan I didn't watch it - perhaps unfair to comment!)

I agree, it all seems somewhat rather unprofessional to me, though fair enough Arsenal didn't win tonight, ITV Sport might have been banking on it, or they might have been expecting for a repeat of last year with Extra Time and Penalties, though tonight this wasn't the case. Either way ITV Sport have been given 3 and a half hours of time here, and they should have material to fill that slot, even if it's reports rubbing in Arsenal's defeat would have been better than nothing, or just perfect for every Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool fan. Laughing

Even if the coverage ended just after 10.20pm and ITV stuck aload of Adverts and promos for about 8 or 9 minutes would be better. Rarely after a Cup Final the schedule goes to plan, it could have tonight, now they're 15 minutes behind, despite that the game ended on time.

Either way it looks pathetic on ITV's behalf..

What happened with adverts? Did some ads that would have been shown after the football end up being shown during Naughtiest Blunders instead?

I bet advertisers wouldn't be pleased with that.

Totally shambollic really!

It can only be ITV logic to fill a 15 minute 'gap' with a 30 minute programme! lol

They didn't even change the times on the on-screen coming next thingy either - it still stated the old times of 11:00 and 11:35!

Couldn't itv get in trouble for this? It's not like they couldn't avoid it!

Surely ITV realise that the 60% of the population who watch digital TV probably rely on the EPG rather than the "freebie" listings magazines in the weekend papers, so a simple update would at least allow what audience they have to know what is happening.

BBC are very good at updating the EPG (on Sky at least) and I have known an ocassion only last month when the Evening News was being moved every five minutes because of a live over-run of a current programme.

( Embarassed OK: as I have moaned about this on a DS Forum: BBC slipped up and I lost 2 mins off the end of Dr Who on a Sky+ recording - but rather that than 15 mins off the beginning)

ITV are just careless though. The scheduling and attitude towards EPG updates tonight was appalling. Shocked

I suppose 15 minutes of early Nightscreen would've been out of the question? Laughing

This is what happens when everything is run by complete ARSES in London... If ITV still had regional presentation, then I'm sure each region would have control over updating the EPG, but of course INDEPENDENT Television don't want to be regional anymore..

For the love of cake, ITV PLC, sort it out or go back to the good old days of ITV!

As far as I understand it, advertisers buy their slots well in advance, based on viewing figures for that particular slot, not for a particular programme.

As such, they wouldn't necessarily know they were going in the football slot...

I thought in the case of something major (well major to a certain %) which was known of in advamce, a higher premium would have to be paid for the slot.

If Im wrong then I apologise in advance Embarassed

As for the 15 minutes, well I have no idea what the heck they were playing at. They could have surely strteched the football out 5 mins or so longer with as others have suggested more football aid or world cup promos/ That combined with some extra program promos, could have filled the 15 minutes/

Well I just phoned ITV and wish I had not bothered.

The duty office said they have no idea what happened last night. They were not informed that there were any changes and that only by looking at the schedules can she see what happened

Would it have been possible to bring the news foward to 10.20 or 10.25?

From Media Guardian...
Just over 12m people saw Arsenal lose to Barcelona in last night's Champions League final on ITV1.

It was planned before hand if Arsenal lost to put on TVNB at 2200, with the news coming on time. In the event of course things dragged on a bit and I agree the football should have filled to 2230, but it wasn't a case of simply coming off the air and sticking on the first tape on the shelf - these things do get planned!

As goes ads - no, those ads weren't supposed to be shown in the football. As I say, all planned, just got knocked on by 15 minutes.
