Well you can always hope!
I'll just repost my schedule which I think works:
A realistic and varied schedule:
12.30 Lunchtime News
13.30 ITV Day
15.00 CITV
17.00 Paul O'Grady
18.00 Regional News
18.30 ITV News
19.30 Coronation Street/Emmerdale
20.00 Documentary/Reality/Tonight/Extended Soap
20.30 Current Affairs/Lifestyle
21.00 Drama (Mon, Weds), The Bill (Tues), Documentary (Thurs), Film (Fri)
22.00 Film (Weds), Documentary (Mon), Drama (Tues, Thurs)
90 minutes of News starts at 6pm, beginning with a 30 minute Regional bulletin, followed by an hour-long, in-depth National summary.
Coronation Street and Emmerdale are slashed back to 2/3 times a week. Corrie airs Mon/Wed, Emmerdale Tues/Thurs, Friday slot varies depending on which soap has a bigger week in terms of storylines. I think this is one of the most important changes needed at ITV.
The 8pm hour is split into two every night. This would be the home of shows such as 'Tonight' and other Lifestyle shows that would be commissioned, similar to what you'd see on Channel 4.
At 9pm we start seeing the lengthy dramas, films and documentarys. Drama premieres on Monday and Wendesday at 9pm are one-hour. The Bill airs on Tuesday at 9pm, once a week. A weekly documentary on Thursday airs at 9pm. 9 o'clock Films air on Friday. At 10pm, more serious dramas/documentaries air. Can show more sex/violence/language.
The rest of the schedule remains the same, ie the 1 hour lunchtime News and ITV Day.
