Saturday December 3

5.00 - ITV News
5.15 - PREMIERE: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
8.00 - The X Factor
9.00 - I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!
10.30 - The X Factor Results
11.00 - ITV News

How very odd... X Factor results at 10.30pm? Wow. And it's surprising how early they are showing Harry Potter.

Can I ask...what is your source for this?

See RadioTimes.com. Smile Then come back once you've checked Rolling Eyes and say what you think of this bizarre move.

This is a very strange schedule from ITV1 I agree. The X Factor results should definatley be shown at 9pm until 9.30pm and then show I'm a Celebrity from 9.30pm until 11pm. Fans of the X Factor will have to wait up until 10.30pm to see the results which is just terrible.
And as for showing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, why on earth are they showing a big movie like this now. A film as big as this should have been scheduled over Christmas Surprised

Ah, but the advertisers aren't interested in advertising at Christmas.

What matters to ITV is picking up as many viewers as possible in the run-up to Xmas, in a bid to get the advertisers, who are desperately trying to plug all their useless Christmas tat, to go for ITV.

Once it's actually Christmas Day the only ads you ever see are extremely cheap ones for boxing day sales, and a million DFS ones. That's why ITV don't particularly care at that point.

They were never going to schedule the Potter film over Xmas when their advertising revenue drops off. Advertisers are paying their highest premiums in the next two weeks to get people to spend money for Christmas!

By putting it before yet another night of ITV Celebrity/Reality Pap, they're guaranteeing a massive audience from 5-11pm, and a bit more money for the coffers.

Yes I see what you mean. I suspect ITV1 will have basically the same kind of schedule on a prime-time Saturday between now and Christmas. I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of Bond films pop in the schedules to fill the gap until the X Factor starts.

Well they will probabaly have the Record of the year the week after.

But yes for the next 2 weeks ITV have ordered extra episodes of Corrie, and a another series of their celebrity tripe.

Interesting quote from the 1993 ITC Annual Report...

Quote:
ITV's Christmas entertainment schedule, particularly on Christmas Day and 26 December, was criticised by the ITV for offering little seasonal material of a quality likely to be attractive to viewers. Network Centre and the licensess undertook to consider a fresh approach to Christmas 1994"

How many new fresh approaches have been applied since then!
