I just sent an e-mail to the ITV Duty Office:

I think it is absolutely disgraceful that ITV are repeating Quince, M.E, Airline USA and Heartbeat, all on the same day starting from 7 August! And, you're also filling up the 5pm hour with double bills of The Price is Right. You are all a joke. The weekends aren't any better. I used to love watching Saturday nights on ITV1, not anymore!

And I recieved this reply:

We have forwarded your complaint to Scottish Television who do their own schedules for ITV1.

Does that mean stv can show something different at these times?

Well....they could, but what would they show??? Repeats of High Road??? Repeats of Wheel of fortune??? More Scotland today??

UTV are the same, if they dont show what the network shows, they dont have much else to put on apart from more repeats.........planets funniest animals...........cinema, cinema, cinema.....More UTV Live..........UTV Life......Lesser spotted ulster........There is nothing to show!!

It's not as if UTV or Stv have got huge hit new American series that they can opt out of the network muck to show instead. It's either Network muck, or regional variations showing Ex-network muck!

You should try e-mailing the top guns instead of Duty Office. It's their fault ITV's in the mess it is and they should be the ones being deluged with complaints Laughing

ITV1 may as well just drop all their programming and replace it with the following schedule.

9:25 - 12:30 - Quizmania, Rovers return pub quiz, This morning puzzle book, ITV Play c**p......
12:30 - 1:00 - ITV News
1:00 - 6:30 - Quiz mania, Rovers return pub quiz, This morning puzzle book, ITV Play c**p......
6:30 - 7:00 - ITV News
7:00 - 6:00am - ITV puzzles, phone in muck, still graphics on screen etc..

Now that will be the Future of ITV1. I'm sure if we sent the above to Charles Allen, his face will light up....and he can ask for a pay rise for being a clever little boy!

There are less repeats on ITV1 than there are on any of the other terrestrial channels so I'm not sure what point you are making

Daytimes during the Summer are always filled with repeats because the usual audience is busy.

Am I alone in thinking that to write, "you are all a joke" to employees of the Duty Office is nothing less than sheer bloody rudeness?

Couldn't agree more! That email was not only rude it was bloody pathetic. If you can't stand watching ITV1s output, either watch another channel, write a POLITE letter to ITV saying that you think their ITV schedule is not worth watching, or perhaps go outside for once. The very notion that they are actually going to take ANY notice of that email considering the way you've written it is laughable isn't it?

I'm sure they won't take it to heart. The whole message sounds like the rabid ramblings of a demented nutter.

You're not alone, I said as much in my post about it - email the idiots who have made ITV such a sham. The duty office are the helpful ones in the unlucky boat of working for such idiots, and some of them might even be able to control ITV better than their bosses.

firstname.lastname@itv.com - I'm sure it won't be hard to figure out who to write to Wink Might want to get one to the Chief Executive fast though - he could be gone very, very soon...

Well, to be honest, the Duty Office are the ones who are quite rude. They never e-mail a simple answer back to you. They say it has been passed onto the 'correct' people, then you never get a reply. They get paid for absolutely nothing.
All I am doing is expressing my opinion, that's what forums are for.

No, it just means that you should contact the duty office for the station you are watching and not ITV PLCs

Garry, you have no idea what their duties involve. They doubtless take hundreds of calls and letters ranging from, "When can I see a repeat of such and such", "where can I buy the handbag I saw Fern Britton with" and other such nonsense.

At the end of the day they are people - just like you and I - doing a job. They are not decision makers, and they certainly don't get paid for taking abuse.

A well formed polite letter will always get you further in life.

It's just common courtesy, really.
