Has anyone else noticed ITV1 are showing the Bond film Thunderball this coming Saturday which was last shown just 2 months ago. Also the following Saturday they are showing You Only Live Twice again which was also shown 2 months ago. It's unusual for ITV1 to repeat the same not just Bond film but any film within 2 months after the first showing.
I'm not complaining though I love the Sean Connery Bond films Laughing

Could ITV be hitting the end of their "window" for showing these films, and have a "showing" left - and are following the "use it or lose it" rule?

Many films bought by broadcasters are bought with a fixed period during which they can show the film and a fixed number of showings within this period - and it could be that ITV's current contract covering these movies expires soon and they need to use up their allotted number of showings to get full value?

At least it's not a patch on ITV2 showing the same movie at different times within the same night :/

They should call them "encore presentations" like the Yanks do.

I thought ITV had a pretty long running deal with the Bond films though - they seem to have always had the rights to the whole franchise.

ISTR that a couple of films have recently popped up on BBC Two though - or am I imagining things?

Or three nights on the trot. "About A Boy" I remember went out three nights running and aired twice on at least one on one of the days. That's eight showings of the same film in just three days including the timeshifts on ITV2+1.

Well of course with digital channels that's not uncommon - for some reason the thing to do at the moment is screen the movie late one night, and then in primetime the next, which I find kind of odd.

You'd think airing it first in the primetime slot and then repeat it the next night in the late slot would make more sense.

The Bond films are to ITV what The Snowman is to Channel 4, and the episodes of Porridge with the bent judge and David Jason as the old crook are to the BBC.

You mean ITV 2 + 1 actually 'cancelled' a screening of it's 'top rated' programme 'This is ITV 2 + 1' to show something from an hour previously?

Indeed. I'd probably argue that if you can't show programmes on a timeshift channel all the time then you shouldn't really have one. Okay, time-sensitive stuff I can forgive them for cutting off (such as teleshopping and the times they "accidentally" let Make Your Play run all night on +1) but realistically, seemingly random programming? ITV3+1 has a field day when there's a Two Ronnies day.
