Not sure how true it is but someone who works for some terrible company says he saw something about Crossroads being maybe licenced to UK-Gold+1.

But UK Gold have already ruled an acquisition of Crossroads out, or at least have used the immortal phrase "no plans". I dare say they may pick up what remains of Mark I once the BFI stuff (see above) is sorted, marks II and III are really a bit too new for Gold (although that hasn't stopped them picking up 'Weakest Link' and 'My Family' I see).

Well with it being the lesser Gold channel (although there is the even lesser one) but still I'd imagine it would be on very early evening or very late at night.

The orginal Gold run saw it on at /7am, 12noon and 6pm as the episodes got into the "downward decline" they cut them back dropping the 6pm showing, then the 12noon one went. So maybe it'll get better Gold ratings at midnight. Shocked

I don't mean to be rude when I say this (although it'll sound it - I apologise) but do you understand the idea behind a +1 channel? it shows what was on the main channel one hour ago now. Which means that Xroads would have to be on UK Gold (the main channel) between 6pm and 5am for it to appear on UK Gold +1 an hour later which only operates between 7pm and 6am. Outside these hours (until +1 goes 24hrs at least) it'd just be on UK Gold, if not UK Gold 2.

Well I gave up with UK Gold a long time ago.. but i suppose if its going to get a showing on one then the other that is just to bump up the viewing figures isnt it.

like omibus episodes or lunchtime repeats... well if they do show it i still think 6am and Midnight would and a repeat on +1 seems more understandable as most people in the primetime i would gess would want to watch what was on the main UK Gold, even if it is now mainly BBC repeats.

A +1'd channel is just the base channel delayed by 1 hour on a server. By definition, EVERYTHING about it is identical.

UK Gold *do* have a second channel in UK Gold 2 which could (and arguably should) show different programming, but it's not. UK Gold 2 is derived from UK Gold; in effect it's just UK Gold+9.

It's a shame that as the original channel "UK Gold Classics" which only used to run at weekends from 6pm-midnight or something like that used to show some good stuff that had disappeared off UK Gold a few years ago. I believe the likes of Crossroads, Worzel Gummidge and other such "classics" featured on there.

Depressingly it became UK Gold 2 shortly after, and lost the original programming.

Oh I couldn't agree more. UK Gold has sold out, it's become just a 6 month delay of BBC One, in fact why don't they just name it BBC One + 6 months. The name has become meaningless, I want true old classic comedies, drama's and gameshows. Not endless repeats of the Weakest Link and Silent Witness.

It's really become very poor.

I WANT WORZEL GUMMIDGE AND AUNT SALLY AND THE CROWMAN........ NOW.

Too right SE, UK Gold is not worthy of it's name anymore. Older material is often found on BBC1 these days!!

I want the original days back - The Two Ronnies, random Top of the Pops, The Bill that was older than 1997, Eastenders that actually started from episode 1, Juliet Bravo, Crown Court, Rising Damp. Classic - although Rising Damp has had deserved re-runs on both Channel 4 and Granada Plus.

Anyway SE, fancy a cup a tea and a slice of cake?

Ison - right and wrong.

UK Gold ran from about 1992 in the evenings, and it included Crossroads MK1 in its programming in pre-Sky Digital days... ah, the memories - wasn't it UK Gold that carried BBC Radio 2, albeit in mono?

... but who remembers the days when channel launches were a BIG thing?

I almost wish for the old days of analouge back. Oddly, the programming quality was so much better then. It's QUALITY not quantity that ultimately counts!

For some reason, in my mind - engraved are such closedowns/start ups of Cartoon Network and TNT with the over-dramatic "THIS is TNT" voiceover and The Childrens Channel closedown saying they'd be back tomorrow and then the highly cheesy Family Channel logo coming on screen usually kicking off with something shocking like Second Guess with Andrew O Conner.

And yes, the audio sub carriers of UK Gold did carry Radio 1 (with Radio 2 on UK Living) - and didn't they swap over for some unknown reason.

As has been said about analogue - I miss the classic channels like Sky Soap with 4 hours of Emmerdale and Take the High Road along with Sky Scottish and the rather impressive edition fo Scotland Today they used to show exclusively on the channel. Others include TLC (wasn't this on in the day before Discovery Home & Leisure timeshared with the main Discovery channel?), The Computer Channel/.tv - a classic channel which I still miss to this day. Their cheap but cheerful was often a pleasure to watch - and a lot of the people now work on Click Online on News 24/World - and in the later days had the highly strange Nexus quiz the fantastic Brian Blessed!!

The old days did seem better - or is it just hindsight?

But then again, I do miss those great Dr Who weekends of Galaxy, and Trish Bertram's and Graham Bannerman's great closedowns on the channel too. I can't be imagining how great they were in hindsight, surely??

Anyway, I'm thinking "off topic" for some reason. Very Happy
