Some media rebranding suit is probably getting paid thousands for this.

A stupid move now IMO - although I never saw the need to introduce the "1" in the first place, a decade and more on with "ITV" being a much bigger operation than when "ITV1" was introduced it just seems a ridiculous decision to scrap the brand just as it's pretty much established itself.

I never called it ITV1. Ever.

It's always been ITV for the main channel. The rebranding makes a lot of sense.

Would like to know why it was delayed until January.

Do you think STV and UTV may accept this rebrand? If it is good enough?

No.

What about the design, rather than the name? Like they done for the summer promo.

There did take the 2002 Ceb idents few months later, and kept them for 4 years unlike ITV would got rid of them with six months of STV using them.

STV might use them but there current package is very strong and easy changeable

Not really sure what to make of it, but assuming it does go back to good old ITV, then the logo will have to be capitialised, as the current logo doesn't look right on it's own, it just looks weak and having no confidence, but the current logo was designed to have numbers and names next to the lower case ITV logo. I'd like them to take a leaf from 1989, but I doubt that would happen.

There'll be no ITV branding on STV and UTV so long as they remain independent of ITVplc, purely because it's no longer a regionally neutral brand. Both companies contested Granada & Carlton's decision to call the product company of their merger 'ITV' but this failed; probably because since 1993, the legal collective name for the regional licences has been 'Channel 3'.

What about ITV.com, they've been using a black ITV logo since they removed the '.com' part?

No, they will probably keep it during Daybreak from 6am to 9.25am, but that will be it. And maybe at the weekends for 'Payback'.

Well, yeah, they don't really have control over Daybreak. That must annoy them somewhat.

But what I don't understand is, if its ITV1 up until 9.25am, then why are there Scottish adverts slotted in during the commercials?
