Not all stations bothered with the ITV trailers.

Many stations -- mostly the smaller ones but also YTV -- were still using the ITV-branded trailers full-time in the early 1990s.

Border only really started in 1993. YTV and TTTV in 1994 and even then a lot of ITV trailers still slipped through, UTV were similar and Grampian I think started taking Border's around 1995.

I think several companies only really started post-93 when the regular production of network trailers dried up to a large extent.

Ah I remember the early days of this forum when HTV would furiously plaster their logo over the top of any ITV logo featured in trailers.

was that not because the company was spilt in two?

An ITV logo with no mention of Sport, has been added to the new football graphics tonight.

Perhaps the new graphics were designed with a possible new ITV logo in mind.

ITV have been using it for the last couple of matches now. To be fair though, it was huge, even the BBC get away with just 'BBC'

Are you talking about on the lower thirds?

I'd be very disappointed if the BBC and ITV stopped using "ITV Sport" and "BBC Sport" branding on screen at every available opportunity. Just the other day I was watching the football and if it hadn't been for the "Sport" logo in the corner, I might have mistakenly thought I was watching the Eurovision Song Contest.

I'd say almost certainly.

No more certainty than the last time we saw them, seeing as that mockup, as it says in the caption, is based upon the application itself, not any new information.

Good to see that computer design hasn't replaced everything.

The final sequence is a single shot, and one where the text very much appears solid and overly 'clean' on the surface. It really looks like it could otherwise be CG.

Now having seen the actual cut lettering that was used, I think this was a missed opportunity for various takes with different angles and lighting, shots that could have shown off any finer details on the surface. But there you go.

I'm not sure different takes are really necessary, especially given that this ident is likely to be dropped in the new year when the new logo and branding are introduced. Besides, the version used seems to work perfectly well (IMO).
