No I have analogue at the moment but it will be changing to digital soon. I will probably get Sky soon anyway.

Why do ITV1 want to axe Crossroads and/or Night and Day? Agreed, Crossroads isn't exactly first rate viewing, but surely ANY soap is bound to get more viewers than the shameless insertion of 'The Planet's Funniest Animals' or 'Catchphrase' repeats into the schedule? As for Night and Day, I think it's excellent but it would probably be better off, as many on this thread have said, in a different time slot, or even on a different channel - since it probably doesn't appeal to the 5-6pm viewing majority. Still, any soap opera is going to pull in SOME substantial audience by default - unless they get Home and Away back, ITV1 is unlikely to improve its figures for this time in the evening.

ITV feel both shows are making huge audience losses so away they go! Bet they wished they entered into the Simpsons buyout! D'oh! Very Happy

I bet they wish they kept Home and Away and GMG wish they had SS in their regions. Surely buying overseas soaps costs less than going to the trouble of having sets built, finding cast, crew and filming eps for homegrown soaps?

Come on ITV replace N+D with SS!!

Border already do, and have done for several years now.

ITV only think about money. Poorer ratings = low advertising and therefore they want to axe it for somthing that will hopefully, and never will be, better.

TV should not be about how much more money companies can get for a commercial break - it should be about the quality of programmes (Planet's Funniest Animals etc). Something ITV doesn't understand. I know they are a company and have to make money but runing people's viewing pleasure to line more people's pockets is well out of order.

Bring back the old ITV!

GMG have hd Shortland Street, it's still on Border, it's been on Granada and Anglia - in fact I think it's only recently been dropped from Anglia and if it was on Anglia it was probably on Meridian too. Not sure if it has been shown on YTV or TTTV.

It used to be on at lunchtime on Granada so I only saw it occasionally. I think it alternated with that Tony Slattery classic 'Jems'.

It was dropped from Anglia last September I think, previous to that it had gone from 5 days a week to just 2.

Meridian stopped showing it before that, but recently started from where they left off, by showing it once a week on Friday afternoons.

Im not saying GMG have never shown it. Granada,TTTV and YTV axed it in Dec 1998 and Anglia in Sept 2001. Meridian are showing it only once a week at the moment but its off air next friday due to the Easter Break and the following Friday all ITV regions are showing a documentary at 2.10pm-3.10pm (5th April) so it wont be back until the following Fri on Meridian I think.

Border until recently were independant so they have eps already bought but im not sure whether it will be kept on?

When is ITVs bad patch gonna end. ITV Digital has gone down the toilet and ITV are constantly getting beaten in certain slots which they used to be able to get the viewers in. Although I didn't say that some of this wasn't their own fault but I'm not going to slag them off because I've heard enough from others about ITV being **** to last me a lifetime. However I don't think the teatime slot is popular for British soaps aimed mainly for adults who at teatime are either cooking dinner or not back from work yet. Home And Away like Neighbours is for a slightly younger audience that also got the average aged person viewing. I had to watch Home & Away & Neighbours in the early 90s because my Mum loved watching it and I got into it then although I havn't seen either for years now. Up until a while ago I was watching Neighbours repeats on UK Gold but they they are now too far into the 90s for me to watch. Channel 5 ar not going to give ITV Home And Away back so I think ITV1's best bet is to keep Night And Day but just in the late night slot, axe Crossroads completely, bring in a new quiz similar to Blockbusters, extend CITV for 5-10mins, move the ITV National News back, keep the regional news on at 6 and put regional programmes back in the 6:30-7:00 slot, this seems to easy don't it.

Let's remember that ITV1 haven't axed anything yet, they were only reviewing it.

Its not just ITV which are 'going through a bad patch' as you put it, it seems to be happening on various channels these days, TV isn't as good as it was a few years ago on all channels

I really hope they don't axe Night and Day, I like watching Glynis Barber, she's one of my favourite actresses!
