Bob was cool. He's even cooler on Call My Buff on BBC1!

I notice that it's neck and neck between quizzes and local programming... what kind of local programming would you like to see? I know for a fact that HTV West is a little dire at the producing the local stuff. They did have a decent Friday night show back in the late 80's though which was really cool. Maybe a early evening version?

Local programming on Border?!
What else would they use to fill the other 58 minutes ????

Razz:

If they DARE put the Planet's Funniest Animals on at teatime, I will dance naked through the streets of Edinburgh...

(that is a JOKE by the way....! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Well with ITV these days they do the most stupidist things that this programme probably would go out at teatime on a weekday so there's a very good chance of u running naked through the streets of Edinburgh!

I thought SKY had Blockbusters, good idea though.

The problem with bringing programmes like this back is that they just wouldn't look or feel right, they'd probably change the music, and alter the classic look of the game board.

Instead of the Gold Run Hot Spot they'd have something ultra-modern instead.

Its best to have memories of how it was, and not how they made a mess of it

Didn't they change the last ever series of The Krypton Factor (another great show) into something which ruined the whole format

i remember the final series of the krypton factor.
it was good to watch but why on earth did they change it?
it was once described as 'an all singing, all dancing version of the crystal maze'.

IMO tv producers shouldn't be afraid to go back on old ideas.
if they're popular with people then give it a chance.

i used to joke about tv by saying 'bring back crossroads' and a while later... crossroads was back! Razz:

i think there are many programmes which have a retro feel to it.
give it a go and let the viewers decide...

It's a shame they are axing Night and Day, even more so as Glynis Barber is one of my favourite actresses!

Sadly as much as people claim to like 'Retro' at the moment, very few things that actually do give them the chance to recapture those old memories actually manage to achive that. Crosswords is a perfect example - they tried to bring back a popular programme after an absense of at least a decade hoping to join the wave of 'Retro' - but it'd be fair to say it's failed.

To be honest I'd rather see broadcasters continue to be inovative and try new formats and ideas, because when they try and revive old ones, generally they've already got the 'failure' of the previous attempt to try and build up from, whilst with something new it's basically a clean slate. Look at when Blockbusters went to BBC2 briefly back in 1997 - new set, new look - Michael Aspel. Terrible failure.

not every retro attempt will be successful but if i was a tv producer i'd certainly take a risk.

however you need to give them a chance. at the end of the day you've got nothing to lose by trying.

i think there's going to be a lot of retro programmes very soon.
it's up to the tv producers and execs to give the green light.

Personally I'd like to see the return of 'The Golden Shot' in that timeslot - an irresistable combination of live tension, variety and deadly weapons. You never got audience members getting knocked out by stray crossbow bolts on 'The People Versus' did you? Now that's entertainment!

I think they should give Shortland Street ago.

What does everyone else think about Shortland Street??

This might not be a bad idea. Going by the feedback in an earlier thread, Shortland Street is popular in the few regions that take it, including Border's. Currently on Border it's on at 1pm but before that I'm sure they also showed it at teatime.

There's programme gold tucked away somewhere; it's just a question of finding it and scheduling it wisely.

I think that ITV made a very big mistake losing Home and Away and I think its about time they had a overseas soap back in the 5.00 slot.Smile

Just look at Neighbours is still gets 7 million viewers and is the gets the highest ratings for Daytime.

So ITV get Shortland street on NOW:D

How is H & A doing on CH5 now ?

I always liked High Road, which SMG still produce dont they ? Why not share the slot with Shortland St and High Road.
