I don't think we'll see the new logo at 9.25, because what usually happens is that after the GMTV See You Tomorrow endboard it goes straight into the weekend CiTV ident and from there straight into SMtv. So I reckon the first sight of ITV1 will be either before or after CD:UK, or perhaps launched in the evening - either at 5.40pm, 6.10pm (before Oblivious), or 7pm (before Price Is Right.)

It's quite funny how the trailers for Saturday night say at the end 'That's this Saturday night on ITV', when they clearly will be on ITV1! A bit silly if you ask me! I don't see why they can't use the new ones now like Sky did when they changed Sky Movies Screens 1 and 2 to MovieMax and Premier.

I saw a programme trailer for the ITV Sport Channel earlier and I have to say, it was pretty darned special! It had a blue and yellow ITV Sport Channel DOG in the top right corner (note- not the left!), which was the long version, i.e. |

|. The end board was dark blue with yellow bit flying around the background (like the channel trailers) and the font was the Channel 4 font I think, or maybe Ariel Narrow. Bloody nice though.
Ok the launch is officially at 9:25am saturday 11th august 2001
Some regions may see an itv1 break bumper used throughout sm:tv live but carlton regions dont use breakbumpers anymore in citv programmes therefore the first sign of itv1 will be around 11:30am just before cd:uk
hopefully everything goes to plan and we dont get to see some new break down slides or generic itv1 idents! (hoping!!!)
And of course, us people in UTV land will have to wait until approx 1am on Sunday morning for our first glimpse of ITV1, as we only get corporate-look continuity overnight (with the LNN ITV Nightime service). BTW, the news will remain ITV News. Scottish and Grampian viewers won't see the dreaded '1' at all, except on trailers on ITV2 and ITV Sport Channel.
the break bumpers are probably the most interesting bit of this 'muted' launch - the launch was featured in this weeks tv times and was just one line of text above the 6:00 GMTV listing for Saturdays transmission and read something like:-
'From today itv will be known as itv'
Not much hoo-haa about this launch is there or are they more interested in launching the
Sports Channels
? ie more money to be made there?
I think the fact that visually, most people won't notice the difference in the idents says quite a bit about how it wants to be a 'soft' launch - as you say, giving the sports channels much more publicity is the main thing.
The most apparent thing to most viewers will probably be more 'Over on ITV2, <> while here on ITV1, <>' announcements.
