The digital subtitles are turned on off in the Sky box setup. (Press services, then goto System Setup and its called something like 'Language / Subtitles'. Then goto the subtitles option, switch it to 'On', go to save settings, press the backup button a few dozen times to get back to the TV. Thats stupid, as I only use it if someones on the phone / hovering etc. So its a realy pain to go through about 5 menus to turn them on and off. Why cant there be a Subtitles button on the bloody remote! (and a widescreen button while your at it...).

I dont think Sky broadcast p888 subtitles on there own channels anymore, you have to use the new 'improved' system. But as its such a faff I just press the FP button on the TV remote that goes strait to 888. (On the other hand I can say good riddance to the other bits of teletext - I much prefer BBC Text to Ceefax).

Is Teletext (or the ITV regional pages) going to be avalible? At the moment there isnt any, which is a bit weird as ITV are cross promoting Teletext now (Millionaire etc. have pages on Teletext rarther than the 6xx magazine).

Give ITV1 a chance, remember they are only test broadcasts at the moment, to be quite gratefull to ITV they must of had to do a lot of work to make all the regions to broadcast on satelite, I'm sure Teletext or a new digital service will be avaiable soon though!

I bet it is interesting what ITV1 you're all watching.

Londoners checking out Granada
Northerners watching Carlton
Midlanders (?) tuning in to Meridian.
Westcountry'ers switching to Yorkshire

Personally, as I haven't upstairs access to the SKY box, I've been tuned to Carlton tonight.

- The 'Eye' ident seems popular
- Alistair Stuwart on London Tonight was interesting, I've only seen him in a racing car, on a rollercoaster, or deploying the stinger! Very Happy

- The Carlton weather sponsored by Amarada has good titles, Interesting they seem to be using the old National graphics.
It'll be a quick turn around, on Weekend Evenings, is that why that GMTV advert sandwich's the 2 forecasts?

- Travel News at 6.28, whats that all about?
- Why is the 7.30 local programme, 'On ITV1'?

Agreed! One the decent features of ITV Digital is that you can switch between widescreen in one go. Great for me who watches TV normally on a 4:3 but often captures in w/s.

Really? I don't like BBC Text that much. The bits like the graphics on the weather and such like are good but where's things like invision footy scores?! I have to turn back to analogue for them on a saturday. Are the BBC Text pages actually updated from 3pm on a saturday in the same way as Ceefax? Also, extra bits like Chatterbox aren't on there. It seemed a real shame to get rid of Ceefax on digital before *a lot* of the popular bits of Ceefax was included.

BBC Text is rubbish! Ceefax was much better! And so easy to get to!

Have you not looked into Scottish, Grampian and UTV? The idents on these 3 stations are also very strong. Channel is not bad either whenever it comes online.

Also UTV is the only company in the network to still have in-vision continuity (albeit only on weekend evenings). Worth a look Wink

Jason, I have seen Scottish and Grampian, but not UTV yet, and I agree they do have good idents, I also like their trailers too, but they should have integrated the ITV1 branding as well.

The thing is what I like about CARLTON, is that when you look at their regional trailers, even those are under the ITV1 branding, and that's how it should be, keeping everything considtant, telling the viewer that this programme is indeed on ITV1, unlike the GMG regions who are giving ITV1 trailers one minute, then local trailers without ITV1 branding at all!

Unfortunately my uni work as well as my parents and uncle have got in the way, so I am relying on you guys for the info!Smile

Has anyone ever noticed how when the Wimbledon trailers for the interactive service are always played fast so the page loads up in hardly anytime?

Asa, Any chance of changing the ITV Region options in the profiles to 'All of them!' Smile

It's great to see the Carlton Idents - they are way better than the Granada Group Idents. Also it's interesting to watch Scottish, Grampian and UTV and their complete disregard of the itv1 branding.

This week has been TV Heaven! Just imagine though if DSAT was about 15 years ago - Thames, TVS and the glorious TSW ident available to the whole country!

Is there and difference between digital subtitles and analogue ones? Do you still have to press 888 or is there another option?

Although I cant be sure, as I dont have digital, I believe their is a specific 'Subtitles' option, as well as the old 888. Thats why all the channel's idents for the last few years have always said 'subtitles' rather than '888' in the corner

P.s - For the person who wanted to see the TTTV metallic studio earlier, here it is

Was still in Manchester when 6 o'clock arrived, so didn't get to see if my eyes needed testing - so thanks for posting the picture.

It looks very nice indeed, a hell of a lot better than the old one.

Incidentally, visited Granada and BBC Manchester, today. Had a wander about and I have to say that the Granada Reports studio looks a lot nicer than the NWT studio. Looked strange without the coloured lighting though.

Out of interest, where are all regional TV stations located in comparison to the city in which they're based? Granada and BBC NW are very close to the main areas of Manchester - hence pictures out of Manchester always come through more quickly than most other regions. I know HTV Wales is just outside Cardiff, and not exactly in a prime city location. Granada and BBC NW just seemed to be unusually close to the busiest areas of the city.

central (gas street basin) is based in the centre'ish' of birmingham, whilst bbc midlands (peeble mill road) is based just outside the city centre - about 10 minutes(3 miles) away from central's studio

There is one thing about the test transmissions when you are watching through the day, the william road test card cycles through every channel while you are watching.
