I said yesterday I would check with Channel ITV to see why they weren't broadcasting. Here's their reply :

Current transmissions of the ITV regions on Sky are only tests so you will probably find that some or all will not be there all the time. Channel TV will be on Sky soon but we have the extra problem of getting our signal back to the UK, under the Channel, so it can join with the other regions to be up-linked to the Satellite. We are currently waiting for BT to finish setting up this link which I'm told should happen within the next 2 weeks.

There's is the answer.

I have Sky Digital, but haven't been at home long enough to watch it within the past 48 hours. I went to channel 103 briefly sometime yesterday evening (Mon 5 Nov) but it looked the same as ever - blue background with Search & Scan Banner at bottom saying Press 'tv' then '3' for ITV .

What do those codes such as 10832H and 10906V, or 1:5 and 3:2 mean?

In other words What do I actually have to do to see ITV1 on Sky Digital?

(Can you tell I'm getting frustrated?) Wink

PS which Meridian, Tyne Tees and Yorkshire news-sub-region are being used?

You go into Services --> press 4, press 4 again, and then you can input the tuning details. Once it finds the channels, use the yellow button to store each of them. The 1:5 and 3:2 e.t.c. are the ID's of the stations, each one is a different region. When you have stored them all, you access them by going to Services and pressing 6, selecting the ID, and pressing select.

CARLTON's presentation standards are out of this world compared to the Granada group of companies, those CARLTON idents are on another level altogether. It's just a shame that it ends in CARLTON, and not CENTRAL!

I for one watch CARLTON hopefully forever!

Have you not looked into Scottish, Grampian and UTV? The idents on these 3 stations are also very strong. Channel is not bad either whenever it comes online.

Also UTV is the only company in the network to still have in-vision continuity (albeit only on weekend evenings). Worth a look Wink

Aaron has already given details but there is full explanation at http://www.tvhome.co.uk/itv1_sky.shtml

Nothing major to add apart from digital subtitles seem to be working, definitely on Carlton. Not sure about other feeds.

Is there and difference between digital subtitles and analogue ones? Do you still have to press 888 or is there another option?

Although I cant be sure, as I dont have digital, I believe their is a specific 'Subtitles' option, as well as the old 888. Thats why all the channel's idents for the last few years have always said 'subtitles' rather than '888' in the corner

Digital subtitles are activated on a menu on Sky and are then always on when they're available. They appear just like 'old' subtitles but in a nice font. In fact, on BBC1, they are exactly the same as the analogue 888 ones (including all the errors!)

This was discussed a while ago on Digitalspy, with the end decision I think being that these are added at Sky's end, rather than your box interpreting the 888 teletext feed, but feel free to correct my memory Asa!

I doubt it would be connected to teletext in any way. If they are trying to replace analogue teletext, I doubt they'll still be dependent having the 888 signal broadcast. I assume it's just something that is sent to the box by the broadcaster, in the same way as now+next info etc..? But I'm not sure.

Just a quickie. As ITV have done a deal to have ITV1 regions on Sky, do we know if they've done a deal over ITV2 at all ?
