The pattern is gone from all channels.

And it's not from Granada -- it's an NTL thing.

Well, there has been no Sunrise ident on any Carlton owned region tonight. I expected it to make an appearance at least once, but it didn't. I wonder why? Maybe it hasn't had the 'itv.com' web URL added to it yet?

Booo, Jon Mitchell on the TT weather again tonight. Where has Bob gone? He's been away for weeks now!!!!

I can see us being subjected to non-local 'local' weather for the rest of eternity! Oh the pain... Wink

I saw It's your Shout in Leicester on Carlton Central, but my favourite was Pulling Power Mortorbike special from Birmingham, that was brilliant, however I noticed that none of the Granada regions showed it, so if I didn't know about these tests, I would have never watched it!

ive always liked pulling power too - and was suprised when i found out it wasnt networked - its as good, if not better than top gear (central have decent quality regional output - whilst granada/tttv/ytv show coproduced cheap diy shows etc) now carlton doesnt seem so bad Smile

Hmmm, you diss one programme on GMG then sing the praises of a similarly cheaply produced pan-regional programme on Carlton.....

All pan-regional shows are a scourge, but I do resent the implication that all GMG North regional output is bad -- this is simply not the case. Although I have to say that it worries me the amount of NE regional output that ends up on the other stations when they should be putting out their own stuff -- and we're talking about some *very* regional programmes here, not the sort of generic non-regional-specific output that many regions make (notably Carlton/Central).

Ultimately regional programming should be just that -- regional. I lived in the Central area for a while and I have to say that there were too many of these programmes which seemed as if they were only passed off as 'regional' because they were not accepted for the network. I think Pulling Power falls into this category to be honest. There have been a number of such programmes produced in my area though thankfully this doesn't seem to be as rife as in the Carlton areas. I just don't see the point in making a non-regional-specific programme and passing it off as regional. Sorry.

Well, the 'Carlton' transponder channels seem to have all come back today, but the channel identifier has also reappeared on some of those, plus some of the others.

You can't win 'em all, I suppose.

The handy thing about TTTV, Is that programmes made about North Yorkshire, The Dales Diary etc, are suitable for use on YTV.

Of course on YTV we had 'Red Hot Dance' forced upon us, in the 11.30pm slot, this was about a North East Dance competition.

In relation to regional output, I think 'When the floods came' was a very good programme, a candidate for one of those industry 'Best regional documentary' style awards

Why does Meridian have a local weather forecast at 7.29pm!Confused

Hmmm, I could give you a very long list of programmes forced upon YTV coming from Tyne Tees. Party Nights and two one-off documentaries are just 3 programmes shown pan-regional from Tyne Tees only this week!

And now we get programmes like Out Of Town, a successful programme in the North East, having a series shot in the North West by a TTTV crew and being badged as a Granada programme.

It doesn't bother me particularly, because TTTV viewers aren't on the receiving end. But if I lived in Yorkshire or the North West I'd be getting hot under the collar over these non-regional programmes being shoved into local slots. It's not good enough really.

Of course, on the subject of regional programming, a whole stream of TTTV local programmes have been bought up by Discovery for showing here and across Europe. They must be doing something right!

I believe that 'Red Hot Dance' series 1 was been made a pilot series for possible expanasion to the rest of the North and LWT next year....run for the hills everyone!

Various regions are in different aspect ratios at present.

Some are in 16:9. some 14:9. some still 16:9 squashed to 4:3
