I was watching ITV1 Nightscreen the other day and was wondering why do ITV1 use this 'cheap' filler rather than relaying the ITV News Channel (Like BBC1 do with News 24).
Is it due to a licensing issue or do ITV1 consider Nightscreen a higher priority over news (or maybe just doesn't want to be seen as copying BBC1)?
Seems pretty pointless having a news channel which doesn't stream for 24 hours (live)
But anyway thanks for letting me know, I was wondering why!
Thanks

Well I should imagine if a major story occurs they would break in with live rolling coverage, but to be honest how many people at 3am have a huge desire to watch ITV News?
I think the question should be why SHOULD they opt out for the News Channel? Good to see ITV staying loyal to Nightscreen, even if they won't improve the music.
It's good that for all their faults, ITV at least recognise there's no point in showing programmes through all the night hours "because they can"; overnight advertising is never sold and programmes would almost certainly overrun, as they did pre-Nightscreen. Those who want the news channel can get it by changing channels.
