Some weird stuff going on at Cowcaddens tonight. First of all SMG failed to opt-out of the ITV1 now/next/later at the end of Harry Potter (which presumably means there's something wrong with the clean feed). Then the ident in to The X Factor was the clouds news ident, as opposed to any of the celebrities, which actually looks quite good and perhaps would be a good replacement for out of date celeb idents.
No they didn't. ITV1 started using the clouds ident from October 2002.
It wasn't in regular use until 2003. In fact I'm not sure if it was shown at all in 2002 - I only ever recall Ident "Nighttime" being used for Party Political Broadcasts and for The Queen in 2002. I don't think "Daytime" or "Peaktime" were seen at all that year.

Didn't Border used to use it a lot back then. Oh those were the days.

Probably, but Border [Scotland] is a bit of an exceptional case. The 2002 idents were easily the best - even with the celebrities. The current package is just plain bland.
Looks like a dirty feed again tonight. STV ran the network ECP at the end of Emmerdale - complete with the giant ITV1 logo! I wonder if this is really a technical problem. Perhaps SMG and UTV have voluntarily agreed to start taking this feed.
