Is it very versatile, but of course it's the way the Granada North regions present ITV1 to us, which is frustrating really, I just hope this relaunch will give us presentation standards which compare to Carlton's!

Slightly OT, but AFAIK, the logo which many people here refer to as itv or [itv] is actually called itv. with a full stop after it, by its designers!

It looks like there are 3 versions of this special ident

A long version, a shorter version (without the close up of the crown), and a version where it is already formed.

The long version hasn't been seen on Yorkshire as yet AFAIK

having just seen the ident for the first time - i think its ok. shame central didnt remix it - to fit in with their normal idents, it looked strange having this ident following the normal next slide.

i would have rather they some how combined this ident into the start of the solarium ident, then add a smaller crown and the text to the normal end of the solarium ident.

having said that, it gets the carlton name off the screens for a few days, and atleast they bothered - unlike the bbc - who seem to be strangely underplaying the jubilee presentation wise - i guess lorraine and greg are republicans.

hehe, never thought of it that way. I'd be jumping for joy at the itv1 taking over the screens if we were still stuck with C3NE, so I know how you feel Smile

Well its day two and Graham Rogers is still making sure he points out that its MERIDIAN I can remember him doing this during the Christmas generics too.

OK - I've now seen the jubilee idents in real life, not just stills on the forum and, as i expected, they look deeply naff and tacky. All the shininess - tut. The BBC's efforts (such as it is) is much better with the red and orange and the lower case "jubilee2002" text. Somehow, using regal purple, gold and a crown seems very uninspired to me.
The BBC could actually do with using their graphics more often and having some special idents in the jubilee style, but I suppose they are worried about overdoing it in case it looked as bad onscreen as the Millennium animations did (you know, that stupid dandelion)

I loved the millennium dandelion clock thing - highly symbolic, time and all that - and the music was great too. I love the way the roman numerals scrolled through until you reach "MILLENNIUM" at the end. There was a dance music version of the ident on Radio 1 too.

The long version has now been used, it was used at 11.50am.
Tonight's 'Prime Time' announcer is Maggie, so it'll be short versions all the way tonight Wink

I just never really saw the point of the Millennium animation - it wasn't that interesting and didn't seem to be much of a celebration image.
The jubilee ones on the other hand, I DO like - they should do away with the dancers (they should do this anyway) and make a set of regular idents like these.

I like this ident, would be nice to see a bit of regional branding though, a nice gold Merdian logo!
