It's Martin Anderson, Andrew. I assume D and T are his middle initials.

I downloaded a clip of the original hearts ident from TV Ark I think. From what I remember though, it was pretty much the same except for the end bit, which seemed to be all pale blue. I'm pretty sure that the region's name was set out in the same way as now, as was the ITV logo, but it was a while ago when I downloaded it and I can't remember too well! I do remember that it was a lot better though!
Incidentally, why, on the Anglia and Meridian idents, are the regions' names written in bigger writing than on all other regions'? The Meridian and Anglia ones are massive! Surely they were all done by the same people weren't they?

HTV's is big too, Phil. Well, tall at least; three letters will never be very wide.
So could it be a left-over from the United days? Either part-produced, or specified by them?

Doesn't sound like the version that I saw - maybe they did a couple of re-edits before the companies were happy.

Yes I've noticed that, no wonder Tyne Tees members on this forum are so bitter!
Border is also very big, but as it doesn't have a logo, so that doesn't count

I think Yorkshire's has the smallest text, then Tyne Tees and then Granada. I'm in the Meridian Overlap region with Carlton so I'm not complaining!

I've got a feeling that the original hearts ident is at http://tvarchive.mediabullet.co.uk - but it seems to be down at the moment.

Well surely it's all to do with the number of letters in the titles. Hence YORKSHIRE is quite small, yet ANGLIA is quite big.

I haven't seen the idents described - although they sound brilliant - but I have seen online somewhere an alternative Generic ITV ident which is just the [itv] logo on a background but the colours are brighter - oranges and pinks etc.
Ring any bells?
