On the other hand it wouldn't be so bad if Sky had exclusive rights to Tuesdays with the ITV matches shown on Wednesday so the highlights on Wednesday night could also include the goals from Tuesday.
ITV don't want live football on a Wednesday night if they can avoid it - as it means Corrie will have to be moved. They try and avoid moving the damm show to a new time whatever day of the week its on.
For proof - see when F1 races are run at 6pm on a Sunday evening, and how many times between 7.20-7.40 a caption or James Allen screams "Coronation Street follows the end of this race"
The pitchside stuff has been done in Europe for years.
Des Lynam first suggested it to ITV a few years ago after seeing what RTL did at German grounds, where the hosts were wheeled on in a portable 'bubble' at one end of the ground during the first half time break.
Whilst Ally and Andy's pitchside piece wasn't brilliant, it is a step in the right direction. The score and time DOG isn't though. Much prefer Sky's .
